Which 1998 van would you buy?

1996 BMW 325i Convertible - Brilliant Black [2.5L I6 - 189hp]

Sienna. The only one that isn't a major POS reliability wise.

I'm going to buy a tube radio so we can huddle round it and, by the light of a single candle, listen to President Obama's fireside chats.

WH3ere is the option for "none of the above"... or at least the donkey pulling a carraige for "something else" ?

I supposed I'd go with the Venture, since it's basically the least crappy and least stupid of the bunch.

Mazda MPV!

Gotta love the 4WD and ground clearance.

I've got to vote Venture because I believe in representing, but I'd probably buy the Odyssey with my own money if I really, really, really had to choose.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

if it was 1999, the second gen odyssey would blow everything else out of the water. But for 1998, the Sienna. We had a 01 before
"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

The Odyssey of that gen has transmission problems.

Damn, I knew there was a reason I pushed my mom towards the Venture even though I knew about all of its inherent flaws.

Agreed. That's why I picked 1998. My next minivan thread will be on 2003 models, and then 2007.

Mazda MPV, without a doubt.  Rear/4WD, and the ability to tow 4500 lbs. FTW!  It looks damn cool to boot.

Grand Caravan. We looked at the Town and Country back in the day, but it did not suffice.

Onslaught

I'm going with the MPV with this one. And not because I'm a Mazda fan but because it's the one I like the most out of a class of cars I don't like at all.
You could get a 4WD version and I was a fan of that particular V6 they made. And it didn't have annoying sliding doors in the back. I can't stand door like that.

ifcar

Caravan. The others are either much more expensive, too small, have even worse reliability histories, or other various problems.

heelntoe

MPV ftw only because the other ones are too big for my needs(i know i'm not their target) and i just hate honda in general.

Where's the option for "none of them?"
A good friend will come bail you out of jail...BUT, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, DAMN...that was fun!

I picked the MPV. I would've picked a Quest if it was a competition between newer models.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I'd say Voyager.  I still think they look pretty decent.

'98 Odyssey.

Then I'd buy another Accord, swap over the 5 lug hubs, and push it off a cliff.

Chevy Astros are awesome.  The last shop I worked at had one as the shop vehicle.  It had the stiffest throttle linkage I've ever driven, but was very versatile, and lasted well over 200K miles.

Ours went to 245k before it died between 1990 and 1999.  They're a lot more reliable than people give them credit for.
