I wish I had the money to spend, but I'm too busy f'ing up my car and paying out the ass to fix it.  Still, if you wanted a cheap, "pure" BMW, which would you get?
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

For track use and restoration, the 2002.  For daily driver duty, the E30.  Realistically, I would only own one of those, thus, my vote is for the E30.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

565

I'd pick the one that hasen't become part of the landscape.

the_koof

I'd really like the 2002 and would be my preference but like 565 said, I'll take the one that hasn't become part of the landscape. Probably have a couple of animals living in that poor 2002.

Yeah...what they said pretty much. E30.

I'm going to buy a tube radio so we can huddle round it and, by the light of a single candle, listen to President Obama's fireside chats.

Onslaught

You can get a 2002 that will actually run for less than that.  That looks like a parts car to me.

Really?  You find it, I'll buy it...eventually.  I want a classic and while I was planning to buy something after I graduated, I'd jump on a 2002 if the price was right.  As it stands, I'm planning on getting an E30 or Mini Classic for my first oldie.  What's out there in the world of 2002s?

I never said it would be a nice one! I've seen a few around for that much or a little less. They need work but nothing like the one in that picture you have.

If it runs and runs decently, then it's a winner in my book.

If I had the money and time to restore the 2002, I would do it.

(Recently, I've been dreaming of swapping an S54 into an E30 chassis).

E30 for sure. That one looks in great condition and has low miles for such a low price.

Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...

The E30 is definitely running.

The engines in both run just fine, just one will definitely get you where you need to go without hassle.

Teuton, there's a yellow 2002 for sale near me for 1950, I bet it'd go for 1600, that runs and is inspected...still a daily driver.  I went and looked at it once, but I'm not stupid enough to buy it.

I'll be in upstate NY in December.  If it's still there, it might be worth it.

Not in NY, in Newport.  It's been driving around with a for sale sign in the window all summer.

It looks like I'm saving up for a 2002 instead of a turbo project for next summer.
