Only when I drive like I care about such things and keep the AC off. Normally its closer to 30-31.
Nick's 'st33m doesn't even have A/C.
And if you don't use A/C, do you open the window? That reduces consumption too though... Man, i'd die if i couldn't open the window. I don't use A/C though.

Congrats. Drink a LOT of coffee.

Plasmacluster will keep me awake, but thanks for your concern.

Yes, the 34 number came from a week of driving like i care how much gas I burn, really just to answer that question for myself. I rarely used the AC, opened and closed the windows and sunroof depending on how fast I was going to try to minimize drag, and drove like there was an uncooked egg on the throttle.

The extra few MPG definitely were not worth it to me.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Lowering the Camry may reduce its overall frontal area, and thus reduce drag and increase mileage.

Hey, not all mods have to be of the "go faste" variety!

Yeah but I have to actually put in effort and money to lower it, neither of which I have right now.

Late-ass update... but I took another drive in the Camry... took it by Maksx's house and gave him a ride. The stereo is seriously unbelievable. It sounds simply AMAZING.

Nice, and congratulations. Homelink can be a bit odd depending on your garage door opener. I got ours working, but it took a few tries. If you still haven't gotten it, PM me and I'll tell you what worked for me. I wish I had HID lights on the cars, but alas, I do not.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

Is it a JBL stereo? I was shocked at the bass and fullness of mids in the 04 Camry. The highs are very good, but that's not uncommon. The range of bass and clarity of mids did surprise me though. I've always been picky with my car speakers and while I wish they went a little lower, it's still quite impressive for a factory system on a mainstream car.

Yes it's the premium JBL stereo. 6-CD changer, XM satellite, auxiliary, and I have no idea how many speakers but I know it has a really powerful sub.

Good. If the 04 Camry's JBL (also changer, but it doesn't have XM. Wish it did. If I were keeping it, I'd get it.) is any indication, it's an excellent system for that type of car.

I have a subscription on the 92, which was what I'd been driving on the long trips, but now I'm driving the 04 on long trips and have no XM. I thought about buying one of those portable units and setting it up, but I hate having things tacked on my dash.

This is not an insult to you trep so please dont get upset. This is the thing about these car companies, they get all their buyers all happy and gleeful with the number of speakers their new car has. But the thing is you don't need 13 speakers to have a decent stereo. My stereo is pretty much top-of the line and it has a total of 6. That's the way it is with all sound systems, its not necessarily the number because often times when you get a shitload of speakers they don't "sound" right, if you know what i mean. You can have 13 decent speakers sure but will it sound better than 4-6 great ones that would probably end up costing the same? no.

My point was that it sounds unbelievable without having many speakers. I may be wrong but I think it's 8 + subwoofer. It's the JBL quality and the low, mid, and high range precision the stereo offers which I love. I consider myself to be an audiophile and am extremely picky about sound.

I love those systems that are like "24 speakers in 12 locations". It's ridiculous. Mine is 8 speakers (6 locations), and it has pretty good sound imaging.

I can vouch for the JBL system in Toyota's having great sound, I've ridden in a last gen Camry and a Highlander so equipped.

Minpin is spot on though, no stock stereo is going to come close to a quality aftermarket setup that is done properly.  I just upgraded the head unit in my car, and some speakers are on the way shortly.  I'm looking at either some Boston Acoustics or Infinity Kappas on Crutchfield.  I can't remember the specific models offhand, though.

I like the color of you car Trep.  It looks really good in your sig pic.  Toyota needs to do away with the giant proboscis though.

I have an aftermarket Infinity system in the 92. It has better bass and perhaps more piercing highs than the JBL system in the 04, but it's not quite as full-ranged. If I could somehow combine the two systems it'd be perfect.

I had a set of Infinitys in my last car. They sounded extremely well with clear highs and nice deep lows.

Enjoy the new car Trep.

If you had bothered to read my post you would see it is not directed at you and rather at the car companies making big deals about the number of speakers in their cars. Perhaps you did read it and misunderstood what I said, i hope this is the case here.

Edit: You will also notice I haven't said one negative comment about you getting a camry. If you want to continue to roll the eyes at me I can commence like the rest of these guys here.
