The front was even worse. Didn't take a shot of it because I had my gigantic 70-200mm lens on and I think the owners were nearby. If I had gone up and taken a shot of the front with my cellphone I may have been killed on that day.

Holy crap. I parked the 1er in this garage today and in close proximity to each other were these three ruined Opels. 

Was today "Rice Your Opel Day" or something?

This used to be an Omega...


Can you tell which Opel this is? A Signum!

The kind of rice you have in the US would never pass the mandatory T?V inspections here. I have to content myself with the "German rice" I see which is in effect harmless to you, but an eyesore to me.

Those older Opel Omegas are quite common here in wagon form and can be had for dirt cheap prices on the used car market. They're also popular in the drift community (in sedan form) because they're RWD to.

Was the Catera a "sporty Cadillac" in terms of suspension setup? I don't think GM tried to hide the European heritage of the badge engineered Catera...

The STS and SLS moniker have been around since the late 90's, and were used as name changes for the Seville when Cadillac started using alphanumeric names (starting with the CTS)


SLS was luxury

STS was sport (theoretically)

I've never driven an Opel Omega (ridden in them though) but I wouldn't call them sporty in any way though (but probably compared to the typical mainstream car in the US they probably came across as "sporty"). I'm sure they have competent handling but they weren't marketed as sports sedans or as a car with sporty pretensions. Just your average boring full-size European family sedan of that era, that's what they were.

They aren't. Wimmer has a problem with customized cars, is all. he thinks mild spoilers/skirting that would be considered tame and acceptable by normal car enthusiasts is instead a horrible mutiliation of a mass produced machine.

I'd rather drive a heavy duty pickup around a racetrack than my mom's '99 Intrigue. It's just too big and soft.

I can't compete with the stuff you have in the US. German automotive laws are just to dictatorial and prevent people from ricing out their cars in the extreme way.
