It was pretty fun, but I was underwhelmed by 335hp or however much it has.  Sounded nice and stopped on a dime (it is his companies car, DBA - Disk Brakes Australia, so it was fitted with the top of the line stuff).  It was lowered and had stiff suspension so it wasn't real smooth, but handled decently.  A lot of axle hop if he wanted to come out of the corners hot.

His car got some decent attention since you don't see it too often.

362hp.

I'm intrigued that he got the car to the US a few months before it goes on-sale. Someone must have some powerful friends.

Ah then it would have been the older model, he said it took him a long time to get it over.  All I remember about it was Holden Ute, and it looked very similar to what you guys have pictured.

It looked like the one on this page:

With all the stickers and stuff

Ah, then it was probably a VY/VZ ute. Rear axle tramp was a common complaint of the old Holden IRS system. 330-ish horsepower is about right.

I really hope Chevy hurries up and brings back a proper El Camino to replace the SSR.

Won't happen. The SSR belly-flopped. Regular cab pickups are mostly purchased by fleets. There's little market for a 2 person vehicle. Hence the popularity of extended cab pickup trucks.

My instructor at the track day last weekend had the only one of these in America (that he is aware of), and he took me for a ride in it on the track.  Very interesting car!  Was the SS model.

Sorry for the size but you get the idea!
