Then I'll tell you what you want. You want another Porsche. 944.

Well, the 968 is newer, NA, and just as fast as the 944 Turbo.

968 looks good!  Not as good as the 944 though.

928s are too expensive.  Cheapest one I've ever seen for sale was 45 grand.

For some reason, I was just about to suggest a Mini Cooper. Then I look up at my TV, and what movie just happens to be on? The Italian Job. I must have subconsciously recognized the exhaust note or some thing.

Now we're on to used cars!  That's for another thread.  And I don't want an R56.

06 350z's could be had for around your budget I'd expect. What do you think of those?

Yes!

They are fun to drive. There's nothing like catching air over the everyday frost heave while you're just trying to keep up with traffic.

I bet they are, but it's not exactly my type of vehicle.  I don't do offroading at all.

I love them, but all the Saab Link guys tell me that I shouldn't get one.  And I can't afford a new one.

Nope.  Sure, I'm a snob, but when it comes to the 350Z, I really wanted to love it.  They look great, and on paper they have wonderful specs.  But driving a coupe is a lot like driving a Maxima, except the clutch is worse.

When you really, really, push it; when you drive at the limit (preferably in a convertible version), it wakes up and feels fantastic.  But it never feels special otherwise.

Don't get a Fit.  It's a class below the other cars you are looking at.

I thought about it, considering how highly it's been reviewed.  However, without a sunroof, it's not special enough for me to excuse it.

Honestly, I would take a look at the new Astra (as suggested farther up), but of those listed it would be the Mazdaspeed 3. It appeals to me the most. Good looks, functional, good power/torque, and good bang for the buck.

The only Astra I'd want is going to cost as much as the Rabbit.  That's an easy choice.

3.0L V6

Mazda 6s 5-door. Good fuel economy, involving, roomy, relatively powerful, can order a sunroof.

Not exactly on your list, but just a suggestion.

27mpg is less than the MS3.  I thought about it before, but I'd have a hard time choosing one over another B5 Passat.
