This came from the discussion of fighters in Raza's "11 Months" thread.

I pick the Super Hornet.  Why?  Three words: Rapid vector change.

I like this.

It's like the Miata of fighter jets.

Raghavan

None, i don't know how to fly a jet.

Onslaught

F-22 for me. I've seen them fly and the stuff they can do is unbelievable.
That said I'd rather fly old jets to be honest. I've seen interviews with
pilots who flew back in the day and they say that new jets just kind of
fly themselves. They say that the old ones are more man and machine rather
than man + computer + machine. Kind of like a old car vs new one.

I'd like to fly a
F-86 Saber
A-4 Skyhawk
Mig 21
or my favorite F-4 Phantom II

Eye of the Tiger

I can fly a Cessna 152 pretty well, and though I'm not sure I could handle an F-15, that's what I picked. Good quality aircraft right there.

JYODER240

I don't know much about fighter jets but the F22 looks sweet so it's my pick.

Wouldn't be kind of difficult to fly the big ass F-14 now that they are trashing them?

They aren't trashing them, they're just retiring them from frontline fleet duty.  Naval Reserve Fighter Wing FTW.

FWIW if the F-22 were a car it would be something like the SRT-8 dodge ram. It's big, overweight and handles worse than other comparable cars/planes. Basically it's the opposite of your miata.  :lol:

I remember reading that they are trashing many of them now so the parts can't be sold to Iran. Or something like that.
I'm sure they won't junk them all. Probably make flying targets out of them like they do the glorious F-4.

According to an aquaintance of mine who is a professional test pilot and amateur racing driver, jets are to be directly compared to cars as follows:

F/A-22 Raptor :: BMW M6
F-35 Lightning II :: Porsche Boxster
F-15 Eagle :: Dodge Charger SRT-8
F-16 Falcon :: Dodge Neon SRT-4
F/A-18c/d Hornet :: C5 Corvette
F/A-18e/f Super Hornet :: C6 Corvette Z06 with racing slicks
F-14 Tomcat :: Lamborghini Countach
F-4 Phantom :: 1968 Dodge Charger R/T

MiG-21 :: "a Yugo with a supercharged Chevy small-block"
MiG-25 :: Funny Car
MiG-29 :: Porsche 993
Su-27 :: Ferrari F355
Su-35 :: Ferrari 575M
Su-37 :: Ferrari 599 GTB

This from a guy who's driven and flown all of those except the Su-37.

I didn't think the Falcon would get so much love.  I'll add it in.

Avro Arrow FTW!!!  ALthough it was an interceptor more then a fighter jet...and it was kyboshed just before it was going to go into production.  So I guess it really doesn't count. :cry:

Due to the rank stupidity of Mr. George Pearkes I can not accept the dear departed CF-105 in this poll.

I like the one in your sig, the very one that the grille of that Fisker car was based off.

I'd like to add the f-100 Super Sabre in the list of old ones I'd like to fly. If I knew how.

I'll go with the F22.  But if the F15E was in the poll I'd have to think about it.

There was a Raptor down at the local airshow, that I watched last Sunday, along with a clutch of Hornets and a few odds and ends.? The Raptor is the noisiest bloody think I've ever heard...as well as being capable of performing impossible aerobatics.

You're in Toronto, right?

I was on the 401 monday, near the 427 when I saw a sweet military jet flying south towards the lake.  When I finally caught a good glimpse of it, I couldn't believe my eyes, it was a friggin' F-22!    I was wondering just what in the fuck it was doing over Toronto until I read about the CNE airshow the next day :lol:

As capable as the F18 is, I've always had a love for the F16.  Besides, the Thunderbirds fly them!
