Which would you choose?

Boxster S
Elise
Corvette
Z4 M
SLK350

Cost is no object, you don't have to worry about insurance, gas, etc. Which two-seat drop top in the 50-60k range would you choose?

It would come down to the Boxster S and the Elise for me. I like the new Corvette? but if I was getting one it wouldn't be a convertible so that takes it out of the running.
Think I'd like the Elise the most but I honestly don't know if I can fit in one. I'd take it first unless I just couldn't live in it and then I'd be very happy with the Boxster.
The Z4 just hasn't grown on me much. I don't find it as ugly as I did but I still don't like it. I do like the coupe for some reason.
I'm not much of a Mercedes fan.

Jordan, tough choice.  I've wanted a Boxster since 1997, so I think I'm going to have to lean that direction.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

Does the targa version of the Corvette qualify as a convertible?  If so, that's my choice.

You didn't specify which year Corvette... :P

It's in the $50-60k range, anyway.  That's the convertible I want most.

My vote goes to the Eclipse Spyder.

From this group I would take the Vette, although I would take a Viper over it any day.

I chose the BMW Z4 M because I've always wanted a Z4.

Oh, hell. I want a Corvette, damn it.

Mr. Shark has the right idea here, though. A wonderful car. I'll have an injected 327 or a 396, thanks.

Since all C6 coupes(besides the Z06) have removeable tops, and there is a traditional drop top I'd say no. If the Elise had a similar set-up I would do the same for it.

The Vette is clumsy, it's has too much body roll and isn't as sharp as the Elise, Z4, or Boxster. The SLK is more of a cruiser than a dedicated sports car. The Z4 is impressive but probably not as much so as the Elise or Boxster plus it isn't the best to look at. The Elise is probably the best to drive, not just in this group but one of the best in any price range. The same could be argued for the Boxster. In the end I think I'd go for the Boxster. It may not be quite as sharp as the Elise but it's still very good. Plus it has things such as bumpers, two trunks, a/c that keeps the cabin cool, etc.

I'm 90% sure those are over 60K.

Cost is no object, yet there's a 50-60k price limit?

If cost is no object, I'd spring the extra few grand and get the SLK55

You should read the whole sentence. I said, " Cost is no object, you don't have to worry about insurance, gas, etc". Meaning insurance, gas, maitanence, etc aren't a factor.

Boxster S for me, but only because I'm not a big fan of Corvette convertibles.

True. I'd still buy an SLK55.

If the Targa is out, then ditto for me.  Though I don't really like drop tops in general (it's much cheaper to have a bike for an open air experience).

It's tough between the Elise and the Boxster S. There's something very awesome about the Boxster, so that would be my choice too. With the Elise a VERY distant second, and then the Z4 M.
