S2000, because I hate American cars.

The Vette is a very nice car. The S2000 isn't particularly fast, either. But numbers aren't everything.

If the S2000 came with a fixed hardtop, it would be the perfect car for me. There's nothing like winding up to 9K.

The Pirate

Both convertibles, I'd take the S2000.  I love 'Vettes and would take a coupe over lots of cars but I really don't care for the Corvette convertible.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

Raza

Never cared much for the Corvette convertible.  S2000 this time.

I am suprised how poorly the vette is doing. I of course chose the vette because I am a vette whore. The S200 is a perfectly nice car but nothing like 438 american hp with wind in the hair.

I haven't driven a C6 but if it drives similar to the C5 I'll take the superior handling of the S2000.

438 HP trumps 240 in this case, particularly since the Corvette is respectably quick in the twisties.  The S2000 has no real advantage, to me anyway.

S2000. Lighter, better handling, looks awesome, especially with hardtop.

Corvette by a mile, and I love the S2000.

I hate the S2000. I love the Corvette. The coupe more, but I'd still take a convertible over a million S2000s. I would much rather have my car than an S2000.

Why do you hate the S2000?  Because it had a push button start before you?

I think you're the first person that I've ever met that hated the S2000. Why so much hate?

Why do you hate the 3er? Because you have no excuse to hate the car everyone loves?

Lots of people hate the S2000 for various reasons. None of them very valid reasons, but they'll shout them to the heavens if anyone will listen.

Ironically I don't really like the push button start (don't really mind it either), my favorite ignition is MBs system.

Lack of power. No torque. And there are a million other cars for the same price that I'd rather have...

what's wrong with a normal "turn the key" ignition

The S2000 has that as well: its just the last position to crank the starter that uses the pushbutton.

The reason behind it though may be interesting: In some amateur race series in Japan, the old style Lemans start is still used. In case you're not a race history buff: this entailed lining up all the cars on the grid, and lining up all the drivers in the paddock next to the grid: when the whistle blew, the drivers would run to the cars, get in and start them. Since the driver's right hand (left in Japan of course) would be on the shifter, the other hand was used to crank the motor.

For this reason, Honda wanted to put a Porsche style ignition on their new sports car (Porsches have their ignition to the left of the steering wheel for exactly this same reason)- but Porsche objected and claimed it was one of their trademarks. So, Honda put a normal style ignition key in the normal position, but retained a pushbutton on the left side.
