That great news because when it comes to speeding I stop at 49km/h over.

I always wondered what would happen if you really did pass a cop going at such speeds

I'm told they're supposed to let it go.  A chase would pretty much end up in someone's certain death.  A bike like that can easily outrun a police helicopter.

I think Payman has a thread in general about why Candians "don't get" GWB.  This my friends is why we in the States "don't get" you cats in Canada.
:wtf:

I especially dig the part about how you can't argue with the officer, or risk an additional HUGE fine.

Wow... I hit a nerve with that thread title, eh? How aboot checking some of the insane legislations being passed in some of the states around you?
Eh?

My friend's license is now suspended. She got caught doing 176 in a 100, on the 407 ETR, in a 2005 Toyota Camry V6.

Car was impounded.

She's 17 and it's her parents' car. Silver too, as if it can get any blander.

It's what this thread is about. Ontario's new law that if you get caught going 50 over, $2k-$10k in fines, immediate license suspension of at least 7 days, and car impound.

Right, still sucks.

Yeah it does. I'm happier with her off the road though. I go that fast but I'm cautious. She's a horrible driver.

you gonna offer her rides around for favors or what?

Payman

If my daughter was caught doing 176 in a car, impounding would be the least of her worries. I hate to say it, but this law is good in this regard.

That's a good thing.  Most 17 year olds have absolutely no business driving at that speed.  Like Payman said, were that my child, there would be more repercussions at home.

I don't go 50 over the limit on normal roads! Only on empty, deserted highways. Dazzle, Farris, all the rest do that. I go 20-30 over normally. Plus, I'm actually a competent driver.

You always brag how you go 70-80 kph over the speed limit... I don't know if you're lying to boost your "e-penis" or if you're actually doing that, but that stuff pisses me off. I've nearly been run over many times while i was riding my bicycle because of drivers speeding like that.

And everyone thinks they're the best driver on earth. I know i'm a shitty driver, and that's why i don't speed.

I DO go that fast, but on the highway. I'd be insane to do those speeds on inner roads. Usually I do 100-105 in a 70, 85-100 in a 60, 70 in a 50 because they're anal in 50 zones.

When I"m on the highway and the limit's 100 or 110, I go as fast as the conditions permit.

Watch out!

My friend just got nailed going 85 on a 60. If you always drive that speed you are going to get nailed soon. 85-100 on a 60 is pushing it.

Especially going 100 on a 60.

I am gradually slowing down from the speeds I used to do. This law is leaving me scared.

Function of growing up...I remember when I got my lisence (not so many years ago), and while then I never thought I was that dumb, looking back its an absolute miracle I survived.  And I dont think I will look bakc on my college years (where I am currently) as the pinnacle of my responsibility...

I don't think I've ever gone 50 mph over the speed limit.  On a good highway under the right conditions, I'm a 90 mph guy tops, though I may push 100 mph on occasion just for the hell of it.  Usually, the highest speed I'll actually maintain is 80-85 mph.
