Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I want you to think real hard for a minute about what you just said.

23-29 March 2008:

Special Florida Edition Shed!

I've been on vacation this past week in the vicinity of Palm Beach, on the Treasure Coast of Florida.  But fear not, Shed fans!  I haven't forgotten about sniffing out those bargain beaters you love so much.  I'm just doing it in a warmer setting.  So let's get on with our Special Florida Edition Shed!

I've run across a rather spiffy looking 1993 Toyota Celica ST Sport Coupe.  This is the very lowest base model Celica, with a 1.6 litre 16 valve I-4 (103 horsepower) engine, five speed manual gearbox, an AM/FM stereo, driver's airbag, plastic wheelcovers and not much else.  The sleek bodywork and rather fetching shade of blue make it look much more posh than it really is.  It's also quite an economical little runabout, rated at 25 MPG city and 32 MPG highway.  Miles aren't listed (Why do so many dealers not disclose mileage in their ads?) but at this price who can complain?
All this fun in the Florida sun can be yours for only $2,775 from a West Palm Beach used car dealer.

The "Shed" will return to it's boring cold-weather self next week.

Cheers,
Madman of the People

I like that.
Why are used cars so expensive in the US?

Vinsanity

I test drove one of those Celicas a looong time ago, and even then, it was listed for $3,000 with less than 150k miles. It had shiny black paint and nice rimz, but was an automatic, and had something wrong with the steering (which the dealer said he would fix but never called me back on it). Oh well. The stoopid autotragic would have been enough to turn me away from the car in the first place (Autos are fine for V6 sedans, but not for 120 hp Celicas :nono: )

CALL_911

If that Celica was an AllTrac turbo, I would be all over it.

That's an absurdly high price for a 15-year old, base model, high-mileage Toyota. I'm only assuming high-mileage because if it was low, they'd have advertised it.

It's a FL car, it's probably in very good condition. That, and Toyotas tend to keep their resale value.

That generation Celica is one of the worst-looking. Such a horrid, puffy, bulgy thing, and none of the zest of the previous-generation.

I used to work with a girl who had the convertible version of this car, also in red.  She was that rare woman who could work a manual gearbox, too.  Gotta love that!

Just the thing for haulling all those bits and baubles from estates sales and auction rooms.  Perfect for the would-be Lovejoy in all of us.  A 1996 Volvo 850 GLT wagon in dark blue-green metallic and grey leather interior.  It even has the third-row kiddie seat to keep the little ones entertained while they make silly faces at people in the cars behind!  Power comes courtesy of a 2.4 litre DOHC 20 valve inline five banger and a four speed auto.  You also get alloys, sunroof, heated seats, front and side airbags, cassette stereo, ABS brakes, dual-zone climate control, tilt/telescope steering wheel, keyless entry with alarm and power everything.  a clean original two-owner car for only $2,950 from a local used car dealer.

As a person that used to sell these things, you really don't want to be in the 3rd seat in a Volvo. They are only made for children, and only under (I think) 70 Pounds. I tried to sit in one, and it wasn't funny.

My mom had an old 740 wagon with 3rd row seats. There are six in our family, so thankfully we only had to fit one of us in the 3rd row seat. Somehow we managed to grow up in that car for 10 years until we replaced it with an Expedition.

I had to do it for a couple of years with our Cutlass Cruiser.  The novelty wears off very quickly and then turns into car sickness.  It's not that cool.
