I just found an ad on Craigslist that I think may be my iPod. Here's the ad:
http://columbus.craigslist.org/ele/458330327.html

Sounds weird to me in the first place, plus Whitehall is a rather crime-y neighborhood, so I fire off this email on my fake Gmail account I created specifically for this purpose:

hey I've been looking for an ipod around your price, is it still avaialbe? I was wondering if you could tell me if its the first version video or the second version video. I want the second verison because it has a brighter screen an a nicer system. my bro in college in cali says you can tell its a second version if the serial number ends in DV9K or DV9L instead of NYL. Could you let me know? i just got a good bonus from work so i'm good for cash and i'll prolly want to buy it either way, just wondering which version it is. thanks, jake

DV9K is the last four digits of my iPod's serial number. Everything else is a red herring (not outright asking HAY WUTS DA SEEREUL). Hopefully if this is my iPod, this works :P

I'm hoping it is.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

Definately sounds like it.
Losing the charger after the first month, and selling a $250 iPod for so cheap after a month smells like BS for sure.

Lazerous

Maybe he forgot his shirt in your car because he was fumbling around in your car looking under your seats and stuff in search for the charger?

Yes, because whenever I'm looking for something, I automatically take off my shirt.

He probably took it off and used it as to not leave any finger prints. At least, that'd be the smart thing to do, IMO.

Or you could just get gloves.

There could be many reasons as to why he didn't have gloves at his disposal. I still think the most plausible reason for him taking off his shirt (that's assuming he did actually take it off and is not some street b-ball player who tend to carry shirts around their shoulder) is because of the finger prints thing.

SaltyDog

2 reasons make me think it is yours.

1. He felt the need to give a reason for selling
2. He said he can't get the hang of it.  Ipods are known for being user friendly.  I don't own one, but "got the hang" of my brothers ipod in 5 minutes.

I saw the ad, it really does sound like it could be yours. Nice! did you get a reply on it yet?

Check the serial # on each of the iPods you see. If they match, then go for it.

No, if they match, then buy the ipod, and walk away: directly to the police station and tell them everything.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Tell him that to sweeten the deal you got a new shirt last month that you don't fit in anymore and you would trade it plus $10 bucks.   :mask:  That thar should hook him on the deal.

By the way did you have CSI come out and investigate?  They could have taken this investigation to a whole new level- they could have solved it already.  WTF- man- get with it!

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! If you had just contacted CSI from the get-go, your iPod would have been recovered that the perpetrator apprehended, tried, convicted, sentenced, and incarcerated by now.

First, CSI would have done a full analysis of your car, searching for hair, skin, and bodily fluid samples from the perpetrator. Of course, they would have gotten fingerprints from the interior. Plus, they would have checked the surrounding area for shoe prints and tire marks. Then they would have analyzed the shirt (which is evidence that YOU destroyed by touching it...don't you know that you can't handle any evidence without wearing rubber gloves, those cool blue spacesuits, and wielding 4-foot tongs?) for additional DNA samples along with pollen and other location-specific traces like dirt and pollution particles. All of that would have been taken back to the spacious, ultra-modern, indirectly and poorly lit CSI labs and fed into the Scanamagigger (patent pending), which is connected to the Universal Identification Computer System which would print out a current picture, full criminal profile, background, and up-to-date address of the thief. Voila!

But, no, you had to screw it up from the start. Now you'll never get your iPod back.

rohan

Shit on a cracker bing_oh!  That's exactly what they do around here- you must get the same team we do!?

I called the number and I literally got an entire shitty R&B song as a voicemail. No number, just an R&B song. I left a message as "Jake" (complete with boonies West Virginia accent) and never heard back. Probably was my iPod, either way I've given up on it.

That's a great local brewery that we have. Do I drink their beer? No.

Why didn't you call the police?

What the fuck am I going to tell the police? "Hay, I found this iPod for sale on craigslist and it might be mine but I dunno but I have a phone number could you arrest him and find out|??"

Maybe the guy is suspected of a few things, or maybe he's got warrants out for his arrest, or maybe he's on probation... Worth giving the Po-Po a shot, at least.
