An automatic in a Mini even looks wrong.

I wonder how Mini is doing these days. I don't see them as frequently as I used to.

My GF would probably prefer an auto. I've taught her the basics of driving a manual, but it's just a chore to her.

Go with the Corolla. MINIs are comically unreliable.

I test drove it. I was expecting a driving experience more like our old VW, just more solid and with A/C. Instead, it drove basically the same as my E46, just not quite as fast. I was somewhat disappointed with that - figured the turbo would help it a lot at this altitude. The automatic transmission was quite good and I liked the paddle shifters. I think it only turned 3k rpm at 90 mph. But that tall gearing might be why it wasn't as fast I hoped. A stickshift might be better.

Either that or earn enough money so the person in your life who won't drive manual will have his or her own car.

In either case, do they freak out when they accidentally launch hard? Or when they stall out??  Do they take criticism or instruction ok?

Most adults don't want to be forced to learn something they really don't care about...that's a recipe to make anyone crabby.

I'm probably gonna test drive a Sonic hatchback soon. Used Civics and Corollas just don't seem like good values compared to a Chevy/Ford.

I need to figure out how to tell if a Sonic has the 1.8 or 1.4T

There's an Aston Martin V8 Vantage for sale in Ohio.  33k miles, asking $36k for it.  It's crazy how much these have depreciated.
