That's why I distinctly remember this car.

You can tell from the way the ad is written that this guy thinks the car is an amazing exotic, and it is admittedly very rare in North America, but he calls it a "mini-Ferrari" and "more fun than a Miata, more affordable than a Porsche." Except a Miata is more fun, and he wants more money than a similar vintage Boxster.

phrases as fads go in and out. I've seen that too, I'm guessing they think throw a high price out and see if anyone bites or is interested.

The practice of putting cars on CL for laughable prices is pretty widespread, especially with classic cars.
That's why i think there should be a small $5-10 fee to put cars on there.

Seems to be the going rate these days. That's one of the more reasonably priced ones—some with 80K or 90K miles are being priced above $30K. It's crazy.

I think so. And the things that make it a slightly less good Evo—leather seats, sunroof, more refinement than previous models—make it a slightly better daily driver. The Evo 8 and 9 were an absolute blast to drive, but perhaps over the top for daily use. I can't imagine the X being that much less special to drive, but a lot better to stuck in traffic in. I mean, even the looks are more substantial, less dinky, and more refined than the 8 and 9. My concern with that specific one is that it's been modified and he claims it makes close to 400 at the crank. Overkill for me. But overall the base car is what I'd be looking for. Sun, sight, sound package, leather seats, and preferably in white.

That gas mileage is terrible though. It's like 23 highway. I think that's part of the reason I stopped looking at them.

I average 23 mpg in my decidedly less cool Crosstrek.  That's with regular 87 grade gas though.

I mean, my Z4 only gets like 25-27 in mixed driving, but at 18 city/23 highway, I would imagine average MPG to be around 20 in an Evo, or less.

This one's not, no. But it would be a great find to discover a manual one with the TT3.0 straight six for same money or less. Not sure if you need 4 doors, but used M235i's are down into the mid-high 20's now too.

Yeah, definitely need four doors. Doesn't make sense to have two two door cars, otherwise I'd just get a TT to go alongside my Z4.
