Leave me 100% VTEC-less, would you?

Why don't you go around kicking out canes from under old women or something else less cruel?

Hey, you sold one of the best cars Honda ever made.
Just for that blasphemy, you don't deserve VTEC. Plus, both the Honda products my family owns doesn't have VTEC so I could use it. :praise:

They don't have the 2.0T in the Jetta anymore.

Hmmm, they don't have GTI's on their lot to your liking?

According to Edmunds, the '08 GLI is using the 2.0T.  VW's website still lists the Jetta GLI as offering the 2.0T.

The regular Jetta did, for a short period of time. It no longer does. The GLI still uses it.

I've only seen one, which my friend has. Every other Jetta I've seen (the rear of) said 2.5 or TDI. My friend (with the Cayman) recently got a black 2.0T Jetta that her and her brother share in the winter, when their Boxster and Cayman are garaged.

Rich motherfuckers.

I don't understand why you would attempt to terminate a lease with 9 months to go. The car isn't crap, you seem to like it, and wouldn't the VW dealer rape you for terminating the lease?
Advice? Hang onto it until the lease is up, then:

a) if the buyout is a good deal, finance and buy it.

b) get something you really want... like a $14,000 Porsche 962.  :ohyeah:

c) if you don't want a loan or payments, there's lots of good ol' beaters out there to drop a grand or two on.

I could live without a lot of things.  I don't want to.

Nick:  Buying out the car will not happen.  I'm replacing it with a manual transmission car, whereas the Passat is an auto.  Otherwise I would consider keeping it definitely.  Problem is that I have too many options.  I do love the Passat, but I'm ready for something new.  Four years is roughly 20% of my life.  It's been a companion, but I'm ready to get something that I want, without requirements dictated to me by someone else.  I don't want to compromise on this purchase.  I know narrowing my scope to Volkswagens only may seem like a compromise, but it's not like I don't love Volkswagens.

That GTi is nice though...

They should allow Audi's. An A3 would be okay. It's got a sunroof, leather (ette?) and the 2.0T. It's like a more luxurious, and better looking version of the GTI.

Except it's not really more luxurious and I don't think it's better looking.  And it's more expensive than the GTI, probably.

What I need is a Leon Cupra or Octavia vRS.

I can appreciate that. So you can work something out with the dealer so you're not hosed on the lease? Do they have any '07 GTi demos that you can get a good deal on? I'd love a 2.0T with the uber-cool plaid seats!

But it's got everything you want. I'd say it fits you maybe even more than the GTI. Now answer my first question, are Audis included?

Vinsanity

I doubt Audis are included.

Raza: first thing you should do is find out what penalties you're going to have to pay if you terminate your lease early. That should tell you if this deal is good enough to eat the early termination penalty for.

Secondly, I'm not you, but I don't think you'll be happy with a 2.5L Rabbit/Jetta. At least not nearly as much as you would be with a GTI. If waiting 9 months means you will have the extra money to drop on a GTI, then definitely wait. Heck, if it were me, I'd wait 9 months to get a Civic Si over a Jetta, but me getting a Jetta is a situation that would only occur on opposite day, anyways.

TBR

Once he has a job I believe he is going to live with his mom for a short time, but he doesn't want to take the Porsche on his commute.

Tave

You should wait till the lease ends and spend your freetime looking for a nice R32.

Payman:  I don't know about the lease.  I was planning on going to the dealer to talk to someone yesterday but I couldn't find the time, and I doubt I can go today.

Accordy:  Driving the Boxster on a commute is a waste.  Plus the fact that it's also a lease, and was never intended as a main car.  And Tim is right; when I move out, the Boxster likely won't come with me until I get a house or condo (that has a garage).  I couldn't pay a few hundred a month to keep the car in a parking garage if I could store it at home for free (assuming I'll be living near home)

Ro:  You can get the GTI/GLI with both, but they're part of two different options packages, driving up the cost.  Audis aren't included, since this is just a single dealer's offering.

Tave:  You may be right.  Waiting for a R32 might be worth it.

565:  The RX8 is a good car; but if I am to disregard fuel efficiency altogether, then it wouldn't be the first car I'd look at.

Finally, back on a computer.  19" is a lot more than 3"!

I don't know.  I just saw on the VW site that there is a new package, called the Autobahn pack that bundles leather and a sunroof, bringing a 17" wheeled GTI down to 25K, in striking price.  So, a new one is possible.
