WOW. Just wow. That thing's awesome. I can't wait to see it asplode a tranny or two. Provided some sucker attempts to swap one in their 'Vette, and has a tranny that can't handle the power.

I love the engine.
Ok, but you can take a Buggati Veyron engine and stuff it in a Civic with Civic transmission and watch it explode...
And we don't even know if the LS2/LS3/LS7 transmissions will even fit with the LS9.

JYODER240

That's a twin-screw supercharger isn't it?

You make a good point with the second thing. I don't get what your point is with the first.

My bet is that yes, it's a twin-screw, not an Eaton/roots.

If you want to see a transmission explode, you can do it with any engine, not just the LS9.

Obviously. I don't know why, but that's the first thing that came to my mind. These things make mindblowing power, and are capable of even more.

How do you know how much HP it'll have?

And how high can this thing rev?

Common sense. Dude, you know the thing's gonna make astounding power figures. You cannot seriously tell me that you think it's gonna make less than 500 hp.

This thing's gonna be nuts, wow

GM's really making a strong case for OHV engines. I bet this thing weighs less than the GT-R's motor, but makes twice the power lol

If both the 6.0 LS2 and the 7.0 LS7 weight 208kg, this new 6.2 LS9 should be around that figure, too.

Do we know how much the GT-R engine weighs?

The supercharger will add a good 50-75 lbs.

I dunno why but I get the feeling this engine is going to be blowing up alot in the first year.

Meh - I prefer Dodge's method of getting to 600hp with a pushrod engine: Just make the thing FRIGGIN' MEGA HUGE.

Right on.

I love the looks of that engine. Even if it weren't mechanically astounding (which it undoubtedly will be), it'd still be beautiful.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

The LS9 will have to weigh more than the others with the supercharger.

I don't know the weight of the GT-R motor off-hand, but the regular Nissan V6 is pretty light. Though with twin turbos and block reenforcement I'm sure the GT-R motor is significantly heavier.

But between the LSx and VH motors, the LSx's have the advantage of their caveman valvetrains. VVL DOHC heads are big as hell.

I don't see an engine, I see a giant plastic cover. I'm sure there's an engine down there somewhere though.

(Hey GM- just because Mercedes does it doesn't make it a good idea!)
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Frankly I'm surprised they leave the supercharger visible.

There's a lot on steel in a twin-screw supercharger, and most notable in this instance, Chevy made the intercooler integral to the engine. I would not be suprised if the Viper V10 is lighter.

The new Viper is shorter than a new Corolla - nothing says non-issue regarding V10 packaging as this little tidbit.

Dodge has never had a problem putting the V10 in the Viper, especially considering that it's shorter than a new Corolla.

Sit in one.

They didn't pay a lot of attention to the room they needed to put people in though...

Yes, but evaluate the situation. Who is more important: meat bags in a seat or an 8.3 L V10?

I think we all know the answer...
