You know how people take "time off" from college, and then most of them never go back?

That's you Ron.  Get this car, and you'll become an old man.  After the A6, you'll get a DTS.

Yeah. This is one of the more boring cars in its segment.

I wouldn't consider this car boring to drive, personally.  I have driven this field thoroughly (my dad bought a M35, and I have worked at both Infiniti and BMW)and consider my self an enthusiast.  I preferred the A6's non-sport suspension (it is now standard IIRC) greatly to that of the non-sport M35 (now M35 S), and I placed the A6 only behind the 5 series in outright in enjoyment.  Combined with the best interior in the segment (easily) and one of the better overall designs, I say go for it!

Surely, an A4 is more exciting and fun. When we were looking, my dad drove an A6 3.2 (what mom wanted), and the A4 2.0T back to back, and he liked the A4 much better.

White?  You've got to be kidding me.  I hardly ever see a nice car in white.  IMO, white is a chick color on a car, and it could make even a Bentley look cheap.

I hardly consider Alpine White a "chick color", nor do I think my E34 is any less masculine because of it.  Contrary to your opinion, I think just about all of the Metallic darker colors (like gray) that BMW offers utterly destroy the lines of most of their new designs.

I thought the A4 felt "cheap" by comparison (we also drove them back to back), and I felt the base A4 suspension had much greater roll than the A6s.  Did you get to drive either car?

We bought the A4, and I have driven it quite a bit. Including some fun stuff in the snow, on Thursday. That was awesome
I didn't get to drive the A6.

You're surely entitled to your opinion, man....

My 2 sons approve of the new addition to the family.  I got them down to $38k, so I really can't complain.  I know this is a good deal, and with a transferrable 100k mile Audi warranty, I can't miss.  More details to follow, but now I gotta run out the door again to a Boston Poops Christmas concert with my girls.  I could use a quiet night at home right about now! Thank God we'll be snowed in tomorrow!

WOW. Congrats! I caught this thread late, and was going to tell you to jump on the deal on that A6, so I'm stoked that you went for it!

The current A6's are gorgeous. When they first came out a few years back, I saw one with some sweet 20" rims, and it made the E-class parked next to it pretty much invisible.

Congrats, Gramps.

I'm sure you'll miss that beautiful little A4. Oh well, this looks great, as well. Have fun!

A few questions:
1. Could you sell it for a profit?
2. Does it have the Bose surround sound system and Nav?

More important question:

I remember you did high-mileage leases because you could write those off as business expenses. It appears to me that this is a purchase. Are you still going to be able to write off the car payments to your business?

Oh, wow. You bought it already!? That's too bad, because I was going to let you borrow my Escort while you were holding out for the A5! However, I cannot disapprove of this decision at all. Congrats, you're one step closer to a V8Q!

I think the designers at the ones that destroyed the lines of the newer BMWs.

Sorry, that was too easy.

Haha, I can agree on that, in certain instances at least.

Congratulations!  It looks great.

Question - why do you still have 'certified' where the number plate should be, and why is there a '2007' sticker on the window?  Or was that taken at the car dealer?

I don't know if he needs front plates at all, actually.  He might.  I know in PA, I don't need front plates.

But, often times, you can take a car home without a license plate (number plate) if you get a temporary registration tag.  Then, the license plate comes later.

However, considering the amount of Audis in the parking lot and the typical Audi dealer fascia in the background, I'd say that's still at the dealership.
