What is the best/Worst example of product placement?

Eye of the Tiger

Your screenname is absolutely the worst example of product placment I have ever heard of.

How are video games product placement? (well, the AXE in NFS is too much)

How is my sig product placement?

I'm going to have to say the Transformers movie was the most egregious and annoying piece of product placement involving cars I've ever witnessed.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

1975 Honda CB750, 1986 Rebel Rascal (sailing dinghy), 2015 Mini Cooper, 2020 Winnebago 31H (E450), 2021 Toyota 4Runner, 2022 Lincoln Aviator

The Pontiac SUX 9000 was not a real car! And neither was the cobra assualt rifle either!

Oh, that sucked horribly. But I had no desire to watch it, so it was easily avoided.

James Bond movies are kinda bad. At least they have tradition though.
?Do you expect me to talk?"
"No, Mr Bond. I expect you to die!?

Not to mention the movie sucked. "Who needs a plot? Just throw in lots of explosions, and cars, and a girls, and stuff!"

Actually the movie had plenty of plot, but that's not what we are talking about here.

I've seen movies where they do a close-up of a product and leave the product on the screen for much longer then needed.

Was the Alfa Romeo in The Graduate a product placement?

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Transformers.

In general though Speilberg carries, or at least carried, product placement to extremes.

Colonel Cadillac

Bad Boys II has some pretty crazy product placement. During the chase scene near the beginning, nearly every single car on the road was a GM.

Was the Maranello part of a deal? That could go as one of the best.

The best must be, undeniably, in Goldfinger. The Aston Martin DB5  makes the largest impression of course, but the various Fords strewn throughout were seamlessly thrown in. From the Lincoln Continental, Ford Ranchero and Country Squire Oddjob drives, to the Thunderbird Leiter drives, to the brand new, not-even-released-yet Ford Mustang with which Tilly Masterson duels against Bond: they all fit perfectly.

Every single car in that film:

I know! I cannot fathom a product placement deal that will ever surpass it in the appropriate presentation and use of the promotional vehicles.

The DB5 was used extensively, yes, but never in a long tracking shot like the Mondeo commercial in Casino Royale.

The Continental? Absolutely appropriate as a limousine. and when it was crushed into a cube with the Mr. . . . shit, I can't remember his name. . .  inside, what do you use to haul the remains away? Some old beater pickup truck?

No, you use a Ford Ranchero!

And what better vehicle to juxtapose Bond's suave moves, emblematically represented by his beautiful Aston Martin, against Tilly Masterson's juvenile vengeful demeanor than a Ford Mustang?

Alfa did market an Alfa 'Graduate' in the US.

I think Ford Motor company was practically the exclusive provider of cars for the Bond movies starting with Goldfinger through Diamonds are Forever.  Excepting the Aston, of course.  I read somewhere that the film crew had every DB5 in existance in the film when it was made.  Goldfinger propelled Aston Martin from a car known only to those into cars to a brand recognized world wide.  You can't buy that kind of advertising.

Goldfinger:
Mustang, Ranchero, Lincoln, T-bird

Thunderball:
Mustang Convertible
Ford Fairlane Skyliner
Ford Thunderbird
Lincoln Continental

On Her Majesty's Secret Service:
Mercury Cougar

Diamonds Are Forever:
Ford Mustang Mach 1
Ford Econoline
Ford Thunderbird
Ford Custom 500
Ford Galaxie 500 sedan

Oddjob's pressing Engagement?

That would have been Mr. Solo

That's usual, when a producer needs a large fleet of vehicles to destroy on a highway, they get a hundred GMs to shoot and wreck.  Same thing in Transformers, Matrix Reloaded, Die Hard 4, etc.

Absolute worst example of product placement is in that classic Sylvester Stallone / Wesley Snipes movie, Demolition Man.  "Taco Bell was the only restaurant to survive the Franchise Wars. Now all restaurants are Taco Bell."

Hell, they used product placement from the get go with Dr No.  Smirnoff Vodka martini anyone?  Also note that at that time, gin was the main ingredient in a martini, not vodka.

I cannot imagine a more repulsive martini than one made with Smirnoff vodka.

I quite enjoyed Live and Let Die's use of the Corvorado and that delightful Fleetwood.
