Have you ever used the new BMW turn signals?  They don't operate like a conventional signal, which has worked great for over 90? years...

Push down to turn left, stalk returns to "home" position.  Signal stays on.  Push down again to turn it off.

Yeah, yeah that's true. Never really bothered me, though...

Well, it is. I don't really see how that's annoying, but hey, different strokes for different folks. The Audi has the same system.

I actually don't mind it in our Touareg, but the Magnum has the same system and it annoyed the crap out of me for some reason...

Not the same as Audi.

Yeah but who was talking about Infiniti? (FWIW I didn't know that :mask: )

Infiniti, BMW, and Mercedes are all like that I believe.  Mazda's is not, though.  And oddly enough, for being fully keyless, it doesn't have a push button start.

I am the type of person that turns off my signal every single time, I never let the wheel do it.

Using BMW's system is totally counter-intuitive it's not even funny.

Ohhh, ok. Then I can see where you're coming from. Yeah, in that case it is annoying. You want to get rid of your left turn signal, and when you push it up it turns right. Yeahhh, it happened to my mom once.

Most new turn signals are like that, I believe.  I think my mom's S500 does that as well, and that's a 2002.  My Passat does not.  The Boxster might, I can't recall, but in any event, I don't use the turn signals unless I use them all the way, so it doesn't really annoy me.

Camry and Altima are both completely keyless.

Actually I like the little button on the outside door handle which lets me lock the doors so that I don't have to take the key out of my pocket at all. Usually I do, just to kill the auto lights which I don't like going off in 1 minute.

The Mazda is fully keyless as well, but it does not have a push button.  You get in the car, and reach up to the ignition and actually turn a switch like you were turning a key in the ignition.  It's kind of weird.

How do you not use the "halfway" turn signals to change lanes?

Neither do I, really.  I think it's a modern safety thing, to keep the flashers going in case someone doesn't push the stalk all the way down for a lane change.

Really? I know that the A4 has the same cruise control stalk as a Passat, so I assumed the signal stalk was the same.

Because I want to be in control. I distinctly remember using it in the Touareg and by the time I'd changed lanes the damn thing was still blinking. I want to be in control of when it's on and off.

Yet you have an automatic transmission... ;)

All jokes aside, to change lanes, you usually need 3 blinks. Big deal about an extra blink.

But in your case, I can see how you might not like it.
