2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

Dream garage forming in my mind:  STI hatchback, Tacoma pickup (extended cab), and Legacy 2.0D for around town/snow/long trips.

TBR

I hope we get this, the shopping list for my mom's next car (bound to happen within two years I think) needs another diesel on it.

cawimmer430

Let me find my last AMS. I'll post it here.  :ohyeah:

The other day, on my way to Winter Park, I blew the doors off of an STI. Is it no good in the snow or something? This guy was just creepin.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

It's a rally car, it's supposed to be amazing in the snow. The guy was probably being cautious.

This might improve Legacy sales a bit.  They need to update the car itself though.

STIs are equipped with summer tires from the factory, I believe.  That could make the difference.

According to the AMS test the diesel Legacy got something like 5.9 L / 100 km which translates into 39.8 mpg. Will scan it ASAP. Need to find the damn magazine first...

And Toyota is green with the Camry hybrid. This is probably MUCH more effective than the Camry is.

You know what I think hybrids: overrated. And definitely marketed in the wrong way in North America (and Europe too). Toyota wants to give the false impression that these hybrids get good fuel economy in any situation. Dorks.

If they're selling, then they're marketing them the right way.  Selling shit in a shiny package is the miracle of marketing.

And the cars just plain blow.

In Europe Lexus is talking about the efficiency of hybrids over diesels.  :nutty:

Hybrids are great for driving in stop-and-go traffic.

That is, until you remember how much they cost.

How about hybrid diesels?
"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

Now that would be more efficient and the best of both worlds. Too bad Lexus ain't talking about those.

They are. In fact, I encourage them to be used in applications, such as the cabs in NYC. Now that could work. Everyday? Not so much...

STI = suxxor in the snow.  Those 7.5" wide wheels and 225 tires (on the latest sedan versions) blow in the snow.  Plus the suspension has no give in it, so you snap into slides in a hurry from what I understand.

Oh, and there's that 290ft/lbs of torque at 4000rpm.  Tach it up much above a crawl and you can cause trouble in a hurry.

It's almost double what I average in the city with my smaller, less powerful boxer.  That would be awesome to retrofit.
