I was at our cabin in Michigan when I shot (with a BB gun I got in for Xmas,2nd grade) my first rabbit. I'm from a family of hunters and fisherman so you know what happened next. To this day I still hunt. I have deer salami in the fridge as we speak.

I haven't had venison either.  I've eaten goat brains and shark steaks, but never venison or rabbit.

What about it? It's Ontario's official bird, and appears on the dollar coin, but that's it.

The fact that it's on the dollar was a result of a series of unfortunate events, actually. Silver dollar coins had been made by the RCM (Royal Canadian Mint) since 1935, featuring two Voyageurs in a canoe on the reverse. This design was shrunk to fit the smaller bronze coin released in 1987 to supplant both the silver dollar and the dollar bill, but the dies were stolen while in transit to the Winnipeg mint branch. Fearing counterfitting, the RCM used a back-up design featuring the common loon.

That's the 'national horse'. The 'national animal' is the beaver.
