It's likely that the best selling car in the US doesn't fall into the proper definition for this thread.   :nono:

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

It's not a pretty car, and yes, most of them were FWD and automatic.

However, there's a nice proportion to it's quirkiness, and it's an interesting car that in many  ways was ahead of it's time.

If I could find a nice example, I'd be tempted to buy one.

I found a nice example when I was out east...still kicking myself for not buying it.

That interior would scare the hell out of me.  Still, it must have been a cool car.

What scares me is the sheer volume of bird shit all over that car...

Audis were nice and understated before they went to that massive barbecue grille.

Most people overlook the SVT Focus.  The only people who don't are car guys, and even a good number of them dismiss it.  Which is a mistake.

A lot of people pay a lot more for a comparable Civic, which is less practical, and not much better than the Focus, if any.

People pay a lot more for a regular Civic then they do for an SVT Focus that will blow it's doors off.

I had a chance a few years ago to buy a Conquest exactly like this one, for $1200 in excellent shape:

I've no idea why I didn't, but I'd love to find another one.

As long as we're talking SVTs, how about the Contour SVT?  An under-appreciated performance bargain if there ever was one!

Did anyone mention the Legacy?

Yes, it's better than most of the midsize cars out there and yes, it doesn't sell as well as it should, but is it really that overlooked?

A good friend of my brother's is selling his.  It's a '98 with 60K miles, and I'm really tempted to pick it up.  If he prices it anywhere near KBB value, I'm probably going to jump on it (after a test drive and inspection, naturally).

Here's the actual car.

In the UK, yes.  But then again, it's priced quite highly here and there's been no diesel up until now.

I'll add the MX-3 GS with the 1.8 V6. It was a cool if not strange
looking car.
