e13, if you're around, care to explain the whole TL key fob thing to me? That could make a nice gift later on.

New variable.
There's a brand new leftover 2007 Mazda6s V6 sport going for $18.9k. There's also an '07 Accord V6 with 6,845 miles on it for $21k, and another TSX with like 19k miles on it for $18.5k. So far, here's the general consensus between my Dad, sister and I.

1. TSX
2. 6
3. Accord.

She liked the way the TSX drove and handled and whatnot over the Accord, and it would probably be more frugal too. We haven't driven a 6 (anyone know how it compares to the TSX?), but we hear good things, and it's a fantastic deal. She likes it a lot. Thoughts?

No way my Dad would drive that far for $500.

Someone could take the train.

But also, your local dealer doesn't have to know what you are and aren't willing to do to save $500. He's not going to want a 2007 6 sitting around on his lot.

That's very true. Thanks a lot for the ad, BTW. I think you bring up a good point there. They might knock even more than $500 off the price, who knows...

No, I'm kidding. That 6 looks more and more appealing. I like it a lot.

******UPDATE******

We bought a white 2006 TSX today for $23,500 out the door. It's got 14,839 miles on it, and it's in perfect shape.

Sorry for the shitty pics, they're cellphone shots. We take delivery Saturday.

Seems expensive for a 2 year old car that was less than 30 grand or so when it was new.

Well, then.  If it's 30 grand in 2006, with 14K miles (I didn't see that at first), and you're getting it at 22% depreciation.  That's not bad, considering the miles.  I don't know what I was thinking.  I guess I always thought the TSX was overpriced anyway.

I made a new resolution.  I won't buy a car that hasn't depreciated by at least 50%.  Let some other sucker lose their money.

I thought the MSRP of TSXs were about 27.5k with only a single $2k option of Nav

Yeah, pretty much.

The car started at $27,890.  And after reading the KBB value, I hate to say it, but I think you guys overpaid a bit.

Values can vary significantly with region.  Call_911 is in Long Island, which isn't exactly the cheapest area to buy a car.  I ran KBB, plugging in the zip code for Roslyn, NY (relatively near him), and came out with a dealer value of $25.2K, without navigation.

Ro said they got it for $23.5K out the door.  I'm assuming this means that tax, title, miscellaneous fees are included in that price.  If I'm correct,  I'd say they made out pretty well.  Even if that doesn't include tax, they are almost 2Gs below the KBB dealer number.  Okay, so KBB values can be a bit inflated, but NADA puts the car at $23.4K (again, Roslyn, NY zip).  I've found NADA to be pretty accurate in the Northeast - they made out pretty well.

And yes, Honda products have stupidly high resale value.  Current gas prices certainly have not hurt this, either.

I priced out the car in Ohio (where we have no inspections) at $21,000.  That's a lot of wiggle room.

Cool beans. That interior pic makes me miss the TL. As much as I can convince myself that I don't mind the tribute to "2001: A Space Odyssey" monolith of a center stack in my car, the Acura interiors are brilliant in comparison.

Amen brotha :ohyeah: That's one of the reasons I never really considered a TSX. Used ones are priced too closely to the TL. And although my car may still be depreciating rather quickly, I take solace in reading the original window sticker: $40k + change. Yikes.
