The interior is really not something worth spending too much time discussing. You can be quite happy with a car even though it has a cheap interior.

Volvo's Hardtop Convertible C70 to Drop in Frankfurt
Date Posted 07-15-2005

G?TEBORG, Sweden ? Volvo has announced that its latest model, the second-generation C70, will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September.

The car, which features a folding three-piece retractable steel roof, was designed in collaboration with Pininfarina.

The new C70 is built on the S40/V50 platform without substantial changes to its dimensions from those of its predecessor. The front presents the same compact image as that of the S40. Because the three-piece roof requires less trunk space than traditional two-piece units, the exterior displays a smoother, less awkward profile.

Volvo promises enough interior cabin space to accommodate four adult passengers. Improved safety features for the open-top model include an advanced body structure, reinforced beams and an extra-stiff, door-mounted inflatable curtain that deflates slowly to protect in roll-over situations. As a result, its torsional rigidity is double that of the previous C70. This ratio is 10-to-15-percent higher when the roof is raised.

Initially, the C70 will be available with three five-cylinder gasoline-engine options: normally aspirated 140-horsepower and 170-hp, 2.4-liter engines, and a turbocharged 220-hp, 2.5-liter T5 engine. Later, a 2.4-liter, five-cylinder diesel engine producing 180 hp will be introduced to the range.

The new C70s are expected to begin rolling off the line in the first half of 2006. They will arrive in North America by summer.

What this means to you: This classy convertible is way cool, and in addition to improved safety the hardtop will be warmer in winter than a rag top.
