I don't care about your damn finance calculations and your hatrid of horsepower. Cars are rarely good investments and I like going fast. If you hate the 135i and all you really want is a 128i, fine. But considering everything the 135i adds for the price, it's a no brainer. Anyone with that much money to fork out on a small coupe shouldn't have any problems paying an extra $4-5k. If they do, maybe they should be looking at Suzuki Renos, instead.

Besides the engine, xenons, and track-grade brakes (which someone who never goes to the track likely won't appreciate or even notice), what goodies does the 135i offer over the significantly cheaper 128 w/ sport package?

For me, that's more than enough to offset the price difference.

You can get silver aluminum interior trim at no extra charge.
If you love the 128i, good for you. This is a fucking stupid arguement.

Oh, and the 135i actually doesn't have the whole sport package standard, only the sport suspension and performance tires.  The sport seats and other little features are extra as part of a "sport package".

So there's a complete set of toggle switches...and they look so cool.  Also, when we get fog, it's seriously thick.  The last time we had fog was last week, and you couldn't see the Integra from the front windows of my house.

Hardly seems worth a $100 to be able to see behind you as you back down your drive way.

If you have fog often, I think it's worth it. And it's not just for you to see, it's for others to see you.

TBR

Yes, in reading the second page I realized that. We don't get much fog here.

I said nothing about the car.  Your assertion that 4 or 5 thousand dollars compared to an overall price of 30 thousand dollars is nothing is absolutely ridiculous.  It has nothing to do with the cars.  It could be any other pair of automobile you want to talk about.

MX had a nice explanation.  If you can afford 15K, why can't you afford 20?  If you can afford 20, why not 30?  If 30, why not 50?  If 50, why not 100?

You're being ridiculous.

That's not what they're for. Those are back-up lights.

A rear fog light is an extra bright red taillight on one side of the car only. It's meant to let other behind you see you better in the fog.

In all honestly: it should be standard on every car anyways, or at the very least packaged together with the ridiculously pricy front fogs and use the same switch.

Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

How is it rude or unsafe?  They illuminate the road and are pointed down and to the sides so they don't shine in anyone's eyes.

Maybe that works in a car, but in trucks and suvs fog lights are aimed right for my mirrors.

Rear fog lights are not for seeing behind you.  $100 sees a pittance to ensure that your car is seen in poor visibility conditions.

Maybe, but BMW's options lists just piss me off. I mean, the main appeal to a classicMini in my mind is that it is lightweight, simple and nimble. The modern mini is supposed to be a re-interpretation of that.

Somehow though, power folding heated mirrors, pop-up headlight washers, and complex sunroof arrangements seem to be the exact opposite of what makes the car interesting.

The sunroof is complex?  Not really.  Both panels pop up and vent, but only the front one slides back.  That's not very complex.

MX793

Fog lights on many cars/trucks these days are not really fog lights, they're low-mounted auxiliary driving lights.

It has two panels. it's motorized. In an S-class it would be perfectly acceptable. In a Mini, it's overly complex.

Hmm, I always thought the modern Mini was supposed to be a way to capitalize on nostalgia to make BMW a fuckload of money.  A small, simple, cheap car that is anything but.  An R56 Mini parked next to me today.  I had to squint a bit, but I swear it's taller than my Passat.  It's hard to tell because my roof arcs and the Mini's doesn't, but it's at least just as tall.  It's huge!
