Those wacky Japanese. Putting old American (and VW) front ends on their Kei class vans... I really want the green '72 Suburban styled minivan...

It's time for small vans to come to the US...

Wow, that's really cool, I'm not gonna lie. Especially the first two cars.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

So who did this first?

I mean who are the japanese copying this time, we all know they have no creativity of their own.

Those little things must be death traps.

There are also kits from manufacturers. Here's a Honda Acty with a Dodge A110-esque facia, from the tuning company DAMD. I think the Chevy Beauville styled vans are also Honda Actys.

The Suzuki Lapins look cool, but the Toyota Hiace looks a bit odd.

The Subaru Sambar (VW Style) was actually factory....(I think)

Not a van, but there's the Mini-Esque Daihatsu Mira Gino, and Daihatsu Trevis.

I totally dig the VW Bus and Dodge van at the end.

Figaros are pretty popular in London.

I would love to own one of those custom Kei cars one day.

Some other pretty cool stuff in that website too.

Are these little ugly things that look like they're from the 1980s still made today?
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

That's cool.

I especially appreciate the dead-on era-correct pinstriping jobs on a couple of them.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

It just occurred to me: you know what these things would be perfect for?

Dinghies!

You know, the RVers that drag around a full sized car behind their motor home whilst on vacation?

These little vans would be perfect for that sort of thing!

These Are Kei Vans. Much too small for that.

Maybe Enlarged at 25%, maybe.

What about bigger version of the van towing a mini version of the same van in the back.

You only use them for short trips away from the big vehicle. Some RVers use golf carts for that sort of thing.

Because they ARE from the 80's. (ok. early (90's). The Figaro came out in 1991.

Chevrolet needs to do whatever it takes to clone that mini-suburban and put it into production asap.  They could call it the Chevy `Urban, and it would sell like hotcakes as a more burly alternative to the Scion xB.
