I have gotten my brother hooked on some kind of car he's never heard of called an "Insight."

The idea of a manual gearbox and 60-70 mpg makes this look like a very good option at the moment.  I'm going to try and help him find one.  I sent him a listing tonight for one, but I don't know if he's ready to pull the trigger yet.

I kind of want a Subaru Legacy (no Outbacks) wagon, a Ford Ranger, VW Passat wagon, or a Nissan Maxima.  Those are the ones I could realistically afford.  Still in the very early stages of looking though. 

And I already know that the smart thing to do is keep the Proteg?.

He's at a lot looking at a Lancer OZ Rally Edition right now  and I sure as hell don't want him to get it.

I miss my Ranger, and having a truck is so easy - I can just throw all my stuff (bikes, camping gear, etc.) in the bed and go.  And a 2WD Ranger with the 2.3L is good for 27 mpg highway (which is better than what the Proteg? gets with 2 bikes on the roof rack).

I could use the ground clearance too - there's a few trailheads that the Proteg? can't make it to.  Nothing urgent, and I'm just starting to keep an eye out right now.  Mostly, I just want something different.
