V6 has a manual?

I guess that depends on which Camaro thread you post in

I've never heard otherwise.  Story has always been that the V6 would be offered with the same 6 spd manual that's in the CTS 3.6.

At this point i have to wonder which will get here first, bankruptcy or the camaro.

22,995 for the LS V6
30,995 for the SS1 V8

V6 pricing is good, but the V8 seems too much to me

$31k for 422 hp, 6sp MT, by all accounts good handling, good quality and otherwise a well buttoned-down package? Sounds like a great deal to me.

And yes, the V6 is available with 6sp MT - C&D tests one in their latest edition. They really like it.

Considering that a 300hp STI/Evo/335 cost more than that, and that the SS should outrun them, I'd say the price is right Bob.

Did they ever post the official dimensions of the car?

Did it break the 4000 lb barrier.

Rich

True, but I and others were led to believe that it would be a lower price than that.

I really want one, but I'm having a hard time wanting to put down more than 10k + 20k loan.  Hopefully I end up somewhere hilly and warm so I can just get a used Miata on the cheap.  If I'm headed somewhere flat and cold I'll be really tempted to buy an SS.

In that C&D first drive posted earlier, they said something like 3800lbs for the v6? If that is true, the V8 may touch 3900-4000lbs.

No way - the V6 is of that evil DOHC variety which is like 3x larger and 2x heavier than a pushrod small block...

yup, i don't know why they didn't go with an updated 3800 motor for the maro.

DOHC motors require more fuel, cost more to build, have a narrower power band and are physically much much larger.

Edit: and they have no torque and you have to rev them to get any power out of them.

Actually, I was kidding. The 3800 is decades old, and it and its siblings (the "High Value" 3.5L and 3.9L) were axed because they couldn't compete.

YOU were kidding????? How dare you play with my mind like that? I thought i had found someone i could believe in, someone i could trust in. Someone who knows the REAL deal when it comes to engines and their results from a chosen valve actuation system. I shall never forgive you.

I'd agree.  Slots it pretty squarely between a less sophisticated Mustang GT and the more upscale "premium" coupes like the G37 and 335i (and I would expect it to perform better than all of the above).

It is quite an interesting package. I will definitely give the SS a test drive next summer when there will be some around to drive (I figure the first couple waves will be sold before they get off the truck).

However, this car is pretty heavy and the more and more I fight weight in my car, the more I appreciate vehicles on the lighter end of their category. ~3900lbs for a Camaro SS? Ugh...

Maybe if the timing is right they can have a bankruptcy edition camaro.
