I know. Most of them have been ugly. But with Chevy FINALLY getting the interior in a Corvette looking good I had hoped they would have done the same for this thing. It's not like it's a cheap car or something.
I can't say much because my cars interior is cheap. But it isn't ugly as hell either.

Well, we all know its like GM's number one law:

Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Is it just me or is the hub of the steering wheel nowhere near the center of the wheel?  It looks like they offset it so you can look at the huge guages.

GoCougs

I think it's awesome. We'll see about pricing, however. Sure sounds like they've moved it up market a bit just by looking at the engine options.

I love the gauges parked right in front of the shifter.  And that torque gauge is rockin', I want one for my car!

I had to look pretty closely - at first glance it seemed you were right.  But I think it's a combination of the camera angle and the hub of the wheel being inset (relative to the rim).  As such, the spokes have a pretty extreme angle to connect the two.

Look at the second photo (the close-up of the wheel), and look at the switchgear on the spokes.  That should give you some perspective.

I wonder if the center console controls could be set up to facilitate circle-strafing.

This car has taken too long to come to market. If gas prices stay like this, demand for the Camaro will be decidedly limp.

Hehehe.  I'd rather have a boost gauge, but I've no desire to join the Zoom-Zoom Boom club.

For anyone complaining about the weight of this car, it weighs less than 100 lbs more then an M3, and about 500 lbs less than the Challenger

But a full 300 more than the Mustang.

hell, just about 100 pounds more than my 4-door mini-barge.

Hasn't this thing been on the roads for like 12 years by now?

I'm sick of it already.  It's fuck ugly on the outside, and the inside looks like an iPod threw up.

Although if they price it similarly to the Mustang, it should kill it.  The V6 is as powerful as the Mustang's V8.

It won't be whenthis car actually makes it to market. The 2010 Mustang GTis supposed to get 400+hp with the base models getting closer to 285hp.  If the GT gets 400hp, it should be a better performer and probably just as fast in a straightline as the GT500 that weighs 400 lbs more, but I also heard the next GT500 is going to be at or near 550 hp.

omicron

Given a Commodore SS-V V8 automatic weighs in at 3979lb, a 3700lb Camaro on the same platform that's not much shorter seems about right.

I can see where they've tried to incorporate key Camaro cues from the past, but I don't think it works as a whole.

depending where I get sent in 2010, I'm either buying this, a used mustang convertible, or a Miata

You don't normally see people who look at cars like these also consider a MX-5.

If I get sent somewhere cold = Camaro coupe

If I get sent somewhere warm and sunny and flat boring roads = Mustang Convertible

If I get sent somewhere warm, sunny, with twisty roads, mountains, and hills = Miata

I could see GM doing that.  They probably had a team devoted to studying the best location for the weight gains.  Hehe.

Whoa! Thats alot!

Not really if you think about it - remember, the Camaro has IRS, and it's slightly longer as well isn't it?

That's only funny if you've never done business with GM. Once you do, you realize its not absurd at all, and there's probably a subcomitteee for engineering-in-ptoential-weight-cutting somehwere.

Random question: Did anyone else notice that the speedometer is in km/h?  And it might be just me, but these pictures look like they've been computer generated, but I might be mistaken.

Yep the IRS might account for some of that weight. I'm not sure about the lenth 'tho.

Now that I've looked at the pics a few times, the back end needs a bit of work; specifically the black monolithic slab of black plastic on the bottom.

The more I look at it the more I think it's a knock out.

I agree

Also, with the New Beetle, Mini, Mustang and Challenger already on the market, how much of the retro craze can GM cash in on before it goes out-of-fashion?
