That bike has ABS.

I'd prefer an old school round headlight, but that looks better than the current one IMO.

Serves me right for not looking at the damn picture that I posted.

I will have to reserve judgement for when I see one in person with a windscreen.

The last Supersport was basically the same deal, but there was no mistaking it for anything but a Ducati. It was still glaze your underoos hot without the Superbike torture rack ergonomics:

It's definitely not as sexy as the last one. In fact I think it looks kind of like a fucked up version of the Panigale.

I'm not a fan.

I mean, that's a more expensive and powerful version of the Ninja 650 so it's not surprising...

I actually think the new Ninja 650 looks better though.

Seems like Duc's answer to the N1K and GSX-S1KF.  And perhaps the Honda Interceptor.

I can honestly say I've never felt the need for a slipper clutch on the street.

Yeah, me neither. Just rev match your downshifts and you're good to go.

650 engine brakes a good bit harder than any other bike I've ridden. I did finally learn how to rev match downshift while braking though.... pretty easy.

Especially if you have good one- or two-finger brakes. Mine can be a bit tricky since I need 3-4 fingers to brake hard, leaving only my palm to twist the throttle. But I can usually see far enough ahead to just downshift without braking anyway. That's probably my favorite thing to do, the engine sounds fantastic during a perfectly blipped downshift.

The WR has such a distinct rasp/pop when I nail the downshift. I love it.

I need a 3 finger squeeze too. I didn't realize that could be part of it.

I found my aftermarket lever is super stiff. There was a lot of flex in the stock lever but with the ASV one it's very stiff which means I can use one or two fingers, which makes it easier to blip the throttle.

I have a cramp-buster on my throttle which makes blipping under braking super easy.

Here's a random puzzle. My bike will often stall out when I lean hard left at low speed/throttle.  Like if I'm turning around on a trail and lean 'er over left with little-no gas, she just quits.  Kinda annoying because I favor left hand turnarounds.  First time I experienced it was way back this summer...I was on the bike and closing my garage door...leaned left to grab it and she died. I figured it was just cause it wasn't warmed up yet, but itll do it when warm too.

Just part of life with a carb'd, air cooled 230 tractor engine?  I don't remember it happening when I first got it. Carb is clean (I imagine)...cleaned it in the spring and always run seafoam in my gas.

MX793

Doesn't sound normal.  Every carb'ed bike I've ever had would not only run while leaned over, but would idle if you dropped it on its side until it had pulled all the fuel out of the line.

I couldn't find anything obvious when I was looking out on my ride.  Twisted the bars back and forth and couldn't see anything. I'll look harder later.

How does the fuel pickup on a birt dike work? Is there a line going through the cap? Petcock? I don't know stuff.

It's got a petcock.  There's an aeration line coming out of the top of the tank. It also has smog things on it, so it's mildly complicated.

2008. 2400ish miles. Never had a valve check or other heavy maintenance. Just oil changes and sperk plergs.

I think I'm gonna wait til the spring to take the MSF course. We're getting pretty close to the end of riding season and it seems a little counterproductive to learn and then not able to practice very much for several months.

Debris, or a hit and run.

One time in NYC I was riding at night up 3rd Avenue.... light turns red, everyone slows down. As I'm slowing down, from under the car in front of me is what looks like a plastic place mat. I target fixated, rode over it, locked my front tire, bike goes down. Could have been something that simple. I make it a point to practice dodging debris/manhole covers when I can.

He could also have just been an idiot.

A whole lotta things could happen - he might've grabbed a fist full of brake (or a foot full) because an idiot cager was about to hit him, he drove over something, some kind of mechanical failure, he might've been trying to wheelie or something, etc.
