Get outta here. I thought those had the same engine, but weighed 100lbs less.
Nope. The Valkyrie has the previous generation (1500cc, carb) Goldwing engine in a cruiser chassis. The Wing is 1800cc FI. In a straight line the Wing whips it a little. In the twisties, the Wing destroys it. One of my riding buddies had two different Valks. He got tired of being thrashed badly. Now he has a Wing. I can still thrash him, but at least it's close now.

I would love one, but it's out of my budget.
What's your budget again?  It shouldn't be too tough to find one under $3500 (my 2001 was $3400 last year, had never been down with 10,000 miles).  Could probably find a '99 for 2500-3000 or so.

Raza

Some of these bikes look really expensive for what they are.

What about a Buell Blast?

At this point, 2500 would be probably my realistic limit.  Several Buell Blasts fall into that range, along with a few used older bikes.  Most sport bikes and such are out of my range.

Right on.

I haven't ridden, but have read a lot and most people really dislike the blasts.  I think at the same price I'd go for a 250, or maybe a early 90's 600.

Really at 2500 it's worth the extra $500 to find a nice SV... :D

I seriously considered one.  Nice seating position, comfortable seat (at least sitting there in the show room, not sure how it'd be after 150 non-stop miles, might be a little on the soft side) and they're pretty light.  Not cheap, though.  Personally, I think they're a bit overpriced for what you get.

Very true...I just need to get out and ride some bikes this fall, you know, like a variety pack.  Then take the one I like most that fits my needs.

S204STi

Funny, my wife and I decided that I couldn't afford to plop down up to 2500 cash for a bike so I might end up financing anyway; in which case I could probably afford whatever I want.  We'll see where that leads...

Champ

Problem with financing is that you need full coverage, which I otherwise wouldn't suggest on a ~$3,000 used bike.

Picking it up either Thursday or Sunday.

It is a local indoor go kart track, and every Sunday night during the winter they let the 50's come on the track for 4 hours a night!

I think they look evil in black.

My other favorite bike (as far as looks) of the moment, also pricey:

XB12 Lightnings are big on my list, but that Harley looks hot too.  There is a Sportster with a similar matte-black finish scheme to it.

Bunch of local guys set it up here.

Get some interest, call your local indoor go-kart track and tell them what you are interested in doing.

They just talked to the owner, blocked off 4 hours of non-popular time (Sunday PM, 5-9).  Charge $25/person for all you can run.

I always have to change the channel when one of those "Worlds most horrific $%&ing crashes of all time" shows come on with a Motorcycle wreck.

Sure, I could die on one.  I could also die in a car wreck.
