It's actually looking better than I thought it would.

I like it, but it almost looks too familiar...especially the OP spy photo

But I guess that's just how Mercedes is, and at least you know it's a Mercedes the moment you spot one.

That rear end is quite nice indeed, and the stance displayed in the first photo is rather sharp.

However:

NO.

I think it's ok. Too conservative maybe.

Well, it isn't as ugly as other new Benzes, but it isn't near as pretty as the current E.

The current E is a pretty damn good looking car. The facelift from a couple of yrs ago has really grown on me

As long as it was converted to RWD, I would be happy with that.

Wheelbase? Too much power on a short wheelbase would make it unwieldly.

I refer to the late, great, Mark Donohue, who said "When you can leave black marks from the exit of every corner to the entrance of the next one, you have enough power."

In other words: this car, the 1500+ HP 917/30 dubbed the "Can-Am Killer," did not have enough power:

No thanks, looks like a Chinese rip off of the C Class and a bad one at that.  The current E is still one of the best looking cars you can buy.

It looks ok.  I do not like the up-swope of the car, it looks like they were just trying too hard.  Lessen that swope and it is a winner.  Maybe lessen the high trunk line slightly as well.

But, my current favorite for MBenz is still that one between the E and the S with the long sloping rear window.

Gawd that car is georgous!

By the way, my picture posting is not working because of too slow service.  Could someone please put up a photo of that Benz I like?  I would like to drool!

That is most definately the one.  That car is sooooo hot it makes my heart skip a beat.  Before they end production I hope to have one.

Thanks, man!  I LOVE this car.

It is awesome in silver and black, but just sex in charcoal grey!

This car is massive fail. That rear overhang is gigantic and the taillights look stupid.

I'd rather have a Hyundai Genesis.

Let's hope CJ doesn't say that...

That said, I agree with you. The Genesis looks much better, is probably almost as good of a car, and will be $20-30k cheaper.

A Genesis sedan drove past me yesterday. It's a very nice looking car in person.

I wonder why I haven't seen any more... looks like an excellent car.

Hyundai hasn't really brought many over here yet.  They're seeing how people are gobbling them up and should increase production by next year.  I love the Genesis!  My mom and I are driving a V8 next week some time.  My dad and I drove a V6 a few weeks ago.  Wonderful car.

The taillights on this E-Class have been stylistically carried over from the W245 B-Class, not some Hyundai or Infiniti.

I have a feeling the car will look better in person. Right now it doesn't look bad and that's because I can see a slightly enlarged W204 C-Class in it as well as a boxier current W211 E-Class - and those cars are quite good-looking.

Anyway the really cool things about this baby are going to be the new diesel engines. E200 CDI, E220 CDI and the E250 CDI! The E250 CDI is very likely going to perform like a current E320 CDI (C250 CDI already eclipses the C320 CDI in performance and fuel economy in a recent AMS test) or better. Imagine the the next E____ V6 diesel CDI!

Aside from the taillights, it looks good in those spy shots, better than in the earlier pictures.

The interior's appearance will likely be a significant downgrade though.

Not quite. There were spy shots in the past that have shown the W212 interior to hav W221 S-Class materials. Upgrade my friend, upgrade.  :ohyeah:
