Minuses:
The massively tacky turn signals in the headlight bezels
I can't agree at all.  I think that's one of the nicest new features.

QuoteThe taillights--Ewwwwww!
The more I see them, the more I don't mind them.  I don't think I'll ever love them, but they aren't horrible.

QuoteThe "beveled" (or whatever cutting off the corners might be called) rear bumper
I wasn't fond of it on the current one either, but it's not a deal breaker.

QuoteMore lower-body cladding than an Avalanche
There's too much black plastic on the car...period.  Not just the lower portion, but in the grille opening as well.  If I bought one, the vertical pieces of black plastic that form the grille opening would get painted body colour.

QuoteRectangular center HVAC vents instead of round vents
Meh.  Whatever.

QuoteThe typically Fordian chubby steering wheel
I don't mind it.  It's better then the current one.

QuoteDicking with the styling of the galloping Mustang emblem
Barely notice any change.

QuoteThe riceboy/redneck hood bulge
I respectfully disagree in a big big way.  I love this new hood.  Apparently it's required to clear the strut tower brace.

QuotePluses:
The rear fender kick-up!
The relocation of the dorky antenna stalk to the passenger rear fender
Upgraded upholtery & stitching
Differentially adjustable HVAC system
Replacing the galloping Mustang emblem's chrome with black chrome
Agreed on all.

QuoteThings that needed fixin' but nobody did:
Trashing that hideous faux gas cap!
Placing the radio antenna in the glass
Genuine body-color painted teardrop side mirrors
Agree.

QuoteGenuine "C scoops" on the sides instead of the hockey sticks
Disagree

QuoteBigger wheel tubs to fit much wider rear tires
You can fit 315s on the back of any Mustang with the right wheel.  How much wider do you want to get?

I like it, but this highlight's Detroit's failures in brand management.

2010 is time for an all-new Mustang, not a cosmetic refresh.

It won't, but rumor has it that the new engines are coming soon, a 5.0 and a 6.1.
6.2 actually, but everything I've read says it's not going in the Mustang.  The GT500 is supposed to get an EcoBoost version of the 5.0L.

I have a feeling more has been done to it.  I have a feeling that the suspension has been reworked.  With all the test mules running around, I would hope the suspension was completely reworked, otherwise, what was the point of the test mules?

It seems it still has a live rear axle.  It doesn't bother me but, sooner or later, they'll have to get rid of it.

I was right.  I just read that the suspension has received stiffer springs, larger anti-roll bars, and strut tower brace.  IRS is coming.  I predict the next car gets it.

Well the problem here is that it is retro and there is only so much you can do with it.  Unlike a camry where you just throw some new alternatively hideous sheetmetal on it and call it all-new even if it is little more than cosmetic.

There's too much black plastic on the car...period.  Not just the lower portion, but in the grille opening as well.  If I bought one, the vertical pieces of black plastic that form the grille opening would get painted body colour. (That would be the second mod necessary after removing that gross faux gas cap, pissing on it, and tossing it into a dumpster.  And then pissing in the dumpster :pee:)
Meh.  Whatever.
I don't mind it.  It's better then the current one. (Marginally, it's true...)
Barely notice any change. (If it ain't broke, don't let some moron fuck it up!)
I respectfully disagree in a big big way.  I love this new hood.  Apparently it's required to clear the strut tower brace. (So who was it that fucked up the strut tower brace that made this humpback necessary?  It's a Mustang, not a Camel.)
Agreed on all.
Agree.
Disagree (If God had meant Mustangs to have hockey sticks, he woulda put a chrome-plated Sarah Palin down on all fours on the grille.)
You can fit 315s on the back of any Mustang with the right wheel.  How much wider do you want to get? (How much wider can they make tires?)
So many stairs...so little time...

Cookie Monster

I don't like it... looks like something sat on the front end and squished it. And the rear looks all funky.

The side profile though, is perfect as is the interior.

The Subaru people seem to think it looks far more Japanese than it did.  I can't disagree with their assessment.

With the Camaro and Hyundai coupe on the way I thought Ford would do more than minor cosmetic tweaks and tiny bump in hp.

Though it's wishful thinking, I hope the new Camaro crushes the Mustang in sales.

Nah, the Camaro's too ugly to sell that many.  The name has equity, though.  I think we'll see massive sales at first (relative to the market) and then it'll tail of and the Camaro will be dead again in five years.

Although I like the new Mustang these pictures make me realize that, whatever they do, it still won't look as good as the '70 Boss or Mach I :praise:

It looks like Ford designers have completely given up and decided to go all J Mays with the 'Stang.  What's old is new again.

I like it, but it brings almost nothing new to the table.

What is the prime market segment for new Mustang owners?  If it's the over '50s, they're after nostalgia, not some contemporary design that has no real sense of style.  AFAIC, the era of classic automotive design peaked in the '60s.

Yes, the Charger has a kickup under the rear side window, but the Mustang's version looks pretty much IDENTICAL to the '65-70 Mustang's kickup...

It's too subtle for my tastes, but it's still quite attractive. I would have preferred a direct translation of the Guigaro Mustang.

...but those tail lights were never going to get past the purists...

However, now that I look at it again, maybe they did take a few cues from that rear end.
