Secret Chimp

Shit, I need to get a set of Sparco mudflaps for my car. My front fenders had black snow boogers hanging from them with the last snow.

I'd import the drivetrain from the Euro Justy and make an AWD Swift.  Turbocharge that 1.3 liter, too.

It's only 15s because the highly effecient 155-width tires can't put all that insane power to the ground. I with some 175 tires, I'm sure it would accelerate much more swiftly.

$30 a pop brand new is really expensive for tires, isn't it?

Mounting and balancing is almost more expensive.

how can it take turns at 100 mph if it can't even go in a straight line at 100 mph? conservation of angular momentum?

The Rabbit has 205/60/13 Hoosiers on it and weighs about the same as the Swift. It's weird to drive because there's so much more grip than there is power. You couldn't spin it out if you tried. :ohyeah:

What does it top out at? Your power/weight ratio is roughly equivalent to the Aveo (a little less). I think I could probably do 115 with a nice tailwind down a hill.

I had the same problem with my 1990 Civic I set up for autox.
Come to think of it, the Civic's 1.5L was rated at 70 hp and it weighed 2100 lbs - 300 more than the Swift. If I could beat Vettes around an autox course with that Civic, just think of what I can do with a Swift!

I can dyno and measure 0-60r with my iPhone. Don't think I won't.
I tried it in the Volvo, but I couldn't keep the phone from sliding around so it just gave me crazy numbers.

It'll be even harder in the Metro, with the crosswinds constantly throwing the car into oncoming traffic.

I need to make an app like that for the Wiimote. Pair the Wiimote with a laptop, toss a Wiimote into the glove compartment and let the laptop record all the data.

The SWIFT has made it home without much fuss.
The temp gauge was quite active, so the thermostat may be a bit sticky.
The motor makes a little clickity clacking... no big deal, I'll probably rebuild it in class next semester.
Aside from the lack of power steering, and a bit narrower seat and footwell, I felt like I was back in teh 'st33m. The throttle response, powerband, engine noise, brake feel, clutch, shifter, hand brake, steering wheel, buttons and switches are all so close to a 'st33m, it's not even funny.

It's not the power to weight that will kill his top end, it's the aerodynamics. The large frontal area and small 4 cylinder engine with 70hp will  struggle with anything over 80+ mph.
