Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I'm actually diggin' that.
I am too, but colours like that usually get tiresome after a couple years.

Yikes, those optional wheels really kill the look. The five spoke holdovers from look much better IMO, if a bit plain.

Only if you see too many of them.

As an owner, I think the colour would get tiresome.

Which 5 spokes are you talking about?  I haven't seen any carryover 5 spokes on this car yet?

Maybe, but no more than blue would, at least for me.

The Grabber Blue is almost exactly like the lovely Turismo Blue found on '05-'06-ish HSV Coupes and the odd Ute:

Metallic Gold is a color that polarizes all who see it--either the vehicle looks great to you in metallic gold or it doesn't look good to you at all.  Some love it, others don't.

Usually, the gold pigment is quite watered-down--coming off almost like a metallic tan.

In the early '60s, Chevy had a "Honey Gold" that was gorgeous, but rare, rare, rare--I've seen it once on a '62 Impala coupe and once or twice on '63 Stingray coupes.  The most beautiful metallic gold ever was offered as one of only four color choices on Honda CB-750 Four motorcycles in '69, '70, and '71.  Honda might have offered it on CB-450 twins a year or two before the CB-750 Fours debuted.  Then Honda went to a darker metallic gold for awhile (not as sexy) and I've not seen it again.

I've not seen a 2010 Mustang of any color in the sheetmetal, but I suspect that Sunset Gold or Sunset Gold Metallic or whatever the official moniker is for this metallic gold will look good in certain lighting conditions but uninspiring in other lighting conditions.  If it looks terrific, I might do the '66 Bronco with it--but I don't have my hopes up...metallic gold is the toughest color to get just right (AFAIK, only Chevy and Honda ever got it right, and in each case it was decades ago) because just a few drops of pigment too little or too much yields a shade of metallic gold that doesn't work at all.    Sad...
So many stairs...so little time...

2011 Ford Mustang GT to feature 5.0L V8?

The Ford Mustang is still tops in the sports carsegment, but with new competition from the likes of the Dodge Challenger and the Chevrolet Camaro, the Mustang is starting to look over its shoulder. To ensure the Mustang doesn?t lose out in the latest round of the pony car wars, Ford is reportedly readying a new powerplant for the 2011 car.

With the Dodge Challenger R/T kicking out 372 horsepower and the Chevrolet Camaro SS producing upwards of 422 horsepower, the 2010 Mustang GT is a bit underpowered at only 315. To remedy that shortcoming, Ford is preparing to wedge a new 5.0L V8 underneath the hood of the 2011 Mustang.

Code-named ?coyote?, the new 32-valve powerplant will be shared with the 2011 Ford F-150. In F-150 guise, the coyote powerplant will be producing upwards of 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, so expect the 2011 GT to at least match those figures.

With the 2010 Mustang not hitting the market until this spring, we suspect Ford will keep the 5.0L Mustang under wraps for at least the next few months. However, with more powerful versions of the competition on the market, we?re sure Ford will be chomping at the bit to get the new ?Stang to market.

Ford?s 5.0L coyote V8 spied!

Word broke just yesterday that Ford was developing an all-new 5.0L V8 ? internally dubbed ?coyote? ? but our on-the-spot spy photographers have already managed to snap a couple of shots of the new powerplant. The 5.0L mill will essentially replace Ford?s 4.6L V8.

Although Ford has yet to make an official announcement, the coyote V8 will first appear in the base 2011 Ford F-150 and 2011 Mustang GT.

Thanks to a four-valve per cylinder setup, the 5.0L should return similar fuel economy ratings to Ford?s current 5.4L V8 ? perhaps even slightly better. But despite an added focus on fuel economy, the new coyote V8 is expected to crank out at least 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft or torque.

With the 2010 Mustang and 2009 F-150 being all new models, we suspect Ford will keep the new powertrain under wraps for a few months just to make sure sales are not upset. In all likelihood, the coyote V8 could be kept a secret until mid-year 2010.

I was at the grocery store today and picked up the latest issue of MT which had a writeup.  $28,8xx base price after destination.  Seems pretty steep.  I also read in an issue of R&T that one of the items included in the ~$1500 "Track Pack" is a limited slip.  Does this mean that the GT doesn't have a limited slip diff as standard equipment anymore?  So now you're looking at $30K+ for a stripped GT with a slippy diff?  Definately not the value winner it used to be (assuming R&T's info is accurate).  I'd have a heck of a time justifying over $30K for a 315 hp coupe that's still saddled with a live rear axle.  Especially considering that you can get a 370Z (albeit with an open diff) or Camaro SS (with 100 more hp, independant rear suspension, Brembos, and a 6 cog box) for $31K.

A "stripped" GT is still outfitted pretty well.  The 2010 price is only $800 more then the 2009 price.  What seems to be the problem?  It's still the cheapest 300+ hp RWD coupe on the market.

The '09 comes with a standard limited slip.  If what I'm reading is accurate, the '10 doesn't, you need to pony up another $1500 for it.

For the 2010 model year, it won't be the cheapest 300 hp RWD coupe on the market.  The '10 Camaro V6 will have 300 hp... and IRS... and standard limited slip.... for $23K.  And Hyundai has been claiming that the '10 Genesis coupe will be the least expensive 300 hp coupe available when it comes out this spring (not sure if they were counting on the V6 Camaro, but surely they were counting the Mustang GT).

When the new 5.0L comes out, the Mustang will be the cheapest 400+ hp RWD coupe on the market, and the GT500 is already the cheapest 500+hp coupe on the market.

That's not really a good thing if V6's are matching the power of a V8, and for less money...

I wouldn't be quite so quick to make that call. The Camaro SS makes over 400hp, doesn't it? If not, it would be pretty easy for GM to make it be that powerful and I am sure the Mustang will be getting a price increase to go alone with the power one.

GoCougs

I'll believe a 400 hp 5.0L from Ford when I see it. And if we do see it, I doubt it'll be the base GT engine.
