Nissan NISMO 370Z headed to the States this summer

Nissan is looking to keep the buzz alive on its recently debuted 370Z sports coupe and has announced that NISMO performance versions are indeed headed to the United States. The NISMO S-Tune 370Z will hit U.S. showrooms this June.

Details of the U.S.-spec NISMO S-Tune 370Z still remain a secret, but we already know of two NISMO 370Z models earmarked for the Japanese market ? a base NISMO S-Tune Aero Package and the up-level NISMO S-Tune Performance Package.

Like the current 350Z NISMO package, the 370Z version will focus on overall performance rather than just focusing on engine modifications. The top level Performance Package will likely see a slight bump in power, but don?t expect much over the 340 horsepower mark.

Nissan failed to mention how much the NISMO package would add to the price of a 370Z, but we expect pricing information to be released closer to the car?s June launch.

the Teuton

I'm guessing near $40,000.

This car just doesn't strike me as a massive performance bargain quite like the 350Z did.  Maybe it's because of new competition like the 135i.

The NISMO version or the regular one

The regular one seems like quite the bargain

NISMO Zs have always been about the "collectability" issue... though I wouldn't buy one new

the Teuton

The new Z is going to start above $30k now, right?

I think I read in Automobile that it's something like $30,085.

I believe it's $29,950 before destination, $30,625 including destination.  If you want a limited slip, you need to fork over another 3 grand for the sport package.

Is that a lot more than the old 350Z?  I seem to remember $27k for some reason.

For the first year it started at 27K, but the base price rose slightly year after year.  IIRC, the base car for '09 is over 28K.

Prices start at 29,930.  Still under 30K.

By comparison the outgoing 350z started at $28,510

Actually Nissan made it much less a pain in the ass to get the top performance model without all the gizmos, so the Z I would most want is actually less expensive.

Back when the 350z was first launched, the base price was a low 26K, but to get the highest performance track model with the good brembo brakes, rays wheels and performance tires, you needed to dish out 34K.  The track model cost more than the luxury touring models, but still lacked some of the luxury items of the touring.   The rest of the Z lineup was horribly complex with about 5 different models, which giving you one pretty worthwhile option, be it cruise control, traction control, LSD, or VDC..  Auto only came in some models and not others.  It was a complete mess.

Then in the refresh Nissan made things even worse by combining the track and the touring models as the grand touring model.  This meant that to get all the best performance bits, you also were hampered with all the luxury options.  The rest of the lineup remained as confusing as ever. Massive fail.

Now Nissan has massively simplified the line up.

Only two real models, base, and touring (which has gadgets).  Base 370z already has the VDC, cruise control, and traction control that Nissan used to make you upgrade past the base 350z for, so it's already a better than the "performance" or later Enthusiast model 350z's that sold for around the same price (or more).  So already the base 370z is a better value than the comparable 350z.

Now the top performance model without the luxury items, comparable to the old 34k 350z track, can be had for just 32k as a part of the sports package.  This would be the model to get for me.

Similarly you can apply the sports package to the touring models as well to recreate the old grand touring models.

Overall the new system is more simple while at the same time being more flexible.  It's even a better value for most models as well.

So if anything, the 370z is now a much better value than the 350z ever was.

I like the facelift 350s...

There were definitely easily identifiable weak points on the 350s though... so yea this could prove to be a better bargain than the old ones. My only hope... a sunroof

How could it not?  It's only a grand more expensive then the old car and provides much better performance.  It's guaranteed to be a better performance deal. :banghead:

I never liked the Nismo 350Z.  The Nismo 370Z is conservative in comparison, but I still don't like it.
