Your pic conjured up a password/username prompt.

Also, the Prius is a Kammback.

Once again, a coupe.

but yet clearly a hatchback... again, al lhatchbacks do not need to look like the awkward offspring of a wagon and a humpback whale

Funny, I've been thinking about Supras nonstop for the last two days.

I know what you're thinking of, and it's not the Supra... it's the driver.

That's a liftback.  That's different yet again.

He's so dreamy.  I can't wait for the fourth movie.

But I really want a sport roof Supra Turbo without a spoiler, in gray.

That's red, but you get the idea.  They look so clean and classy without the spoiler.  I saw one at a gas station once, and I just stared at it.

I worked on one just like you want last month.

Do you have the address of the owner, and perhaps a copy of the ignition key?

I don't think I even care if it's a turbo.  Turbo would be nice, but 220hp, RWD, handling, looks, and what is considered a relatively low weight (it's only a few pounds more than my car with the sport roof), and that open roof, it would be a wonderful second car.  Turbo or not, as long as it had a stickshift and that sport roof, I'd be happy with it.  Even if it is a Toyota.

I checked on Autotrader last night, and it seems the fantasy of current owners is back; I saw turbo models going for over $60,000.

Then we're gonna get back to a goddamn Escalade being a "hatchback" if we want to start stretching the definition to everything that has a vertical rising fully/partially glass liftgate of some sort on the aft end of it.

Hot Hatches are a specific segment of the automotive realm. Supras, RX7s, Camaros, and Fox Mustangs et.al. are not part of that segment.
Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...

Same here, after I saw a MKII supra with a 302 swap for sale in Texas.

I prefer the term "sport compact."

The roommate sold his 650 hp Supra for $35k.  You should have jumped on that.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

Stock power would have been plenty enough for me.  I don't need some queen that's only good for 12 second time slips.

Sport compact would also refer to cars that are not hatchbacks, like the SRT-4 Neon.

The thing about these monster Supras is that they have such huge snails on them that all their power must be on the top end.  Serious turbo lag ftl, frankly.  I already hate having to wait till 2500rpm for shit to happen, I wouldn't be able to stand it.

Yeah.  For some time now, I'm not really a power guy.  320 is plenty for a car that size, and unless I was going to track it competitively, I don't really see the need to do more to it.  Drag racing doesn't really excite me.

Now, I know for many of you, more power is never enough, and I'm not knocking that.  It's just not my thing.

Ditto.  If you want to go huge, that's fine.  I prefer a driveable 300ish HP with a turbo 4, and around 400hp with a V8.  6 banger would probably be somewhere in the middle.  I just wouldn't want to make the compromise in NVH, idle, and low end.

Onslaught

I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably never get a FD RX-7. Supras and RX-7's from that time period go for way too much money these days if they are in great shape. And if they aren't then I don't even want to look at them.
Looks like that boat has sailed for me.

And I agree with you two on power.

Yeah, those cars have huge resale still.  Amazing.

You could always go for a 2nd gen Supra!

I'm not a big Supra fan. The last one was ok but the other ones never did it for me.
I'm looking for a clean FC Turbo II now.

I like the Supra. I know they are great cars. But being an RX-7 guy I'm not sure I could have one.
It's like a Mustang fan buying a Camaro. Sure you can respect them but you can't buy one.

Haha, I know what you mean.  It would be like me owning an Evo... though actually I might someday just to see what they are like.
