Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I was hoping to see more about the car, but I haven't since it had been built...

Your point being?

Fine, let's add the Ford Expedition to the hot hatch poll.

although I do have a certain fondness for old Sciroccos. It'd be cool to see one with a 2.0T swapped in and the b00st turned up

This is about as close as you're going to get

Since term "hot hatch" is now being applied to everything that has glass on the trunk lid...

Our version, the Merkur XR4Ti, looked kinda lame, and frankly isn't that quick.  But cool anyway!

I was at a hill climb rally about 18 months ago with an Escort Cosworth WRC car in it.  Very cool till it died on the way down to stage.

Yeah, I never knew why ours had the stupid-looking split rear side window

I never said it was a hot hatch, and if it was it certainly wouldn't be in the running for "best hot hatch."

One of my friends had a 323 GTX years ago up at his college in the mountains. We knew some unused logging roads there and would drive the piss out of that car right next to cliff sides. I loved that thing and if I saw one for sale today in ok shape I'd buy it.

I bid on one on Ebay once, but the people went crazy and I think it sold for $5000 or something silly.

I know a guy who has two but both of them are dogs and it would take way too much work to be something I'd drive.

Can you leave out the MkIII and MkIV from the GTI list?

Why?

The MKIII isn't very good, the 2.slow is the only engine offered, and the VR6 solved the power issue, but made the car nose heavy. Why leave out the MkIV?

The MkIV really wasn't very good.  It was okay.  Plus all those North American reliability issues due to poor plant management...

As Car put it, "for the fourth generation, VW built a great base model, and then accidentally put GTI badges on it."

I had one almost identical to this, except it had quad round headlights under the plexiglass covers (the buckets were actually old Saab 99 headlight buckets). Very fun car. 45 mpg, good handling, excellent seats.

I'd own another, but not in red this time.
Like a fine Detroit wine, this vehicle has aged to budgetary perfection...

From now on, it may be easier to let us know what cars you have not owned.

2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.
