Chevy or Merlin? Maybe it would be, but it could also be as much as 3 to 400 HP more powerful.

I don't think it anymore. I think the Hyundai K98MC-12 has that honor at this point.

No, they're clearly mated up. Somebody is using a SHO motor in a RWD application for smething...

Looking at the URL of that picture and going through the site that hosts it, it's a SHO engine bolted to a Ford Ranger 5-speed for use in a Locost.
