Well, that M Class in drag looks shockingly nice.
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

A little nondescript, but not bad. I guess Jeep isn't known for taking huge chances with style.

I like it!

Me too. Simple and handsome. Still not a huge fan of the angled wheelarches contrasting with the round wheels, but it blends in well enough.

Madman

Looks good.  But I see no mention of the Mercedes Benz sourced 3.0 litre V6 Turbodiesel which is available in the current model.  I assume this means no diesel Grand Cherokees for North America?  If that's the case then I'm not interested.

No diesel?  No deal.  Big mistake, Chrysler!  :nono:

I'm not sure that it looks like an M-Class. I think it's more of just a refined, snooty-looking Grand Cherokee. Not a supermodel, but's it's definitely an attractive girl next door. I like.

Here you go, prices of both vehicles with the running boards/side steps I would want.

2009 Mercedes Benz ML320 BlueTEC AWD, Base MSRP:        $48,600
Running boards:                                                         + $    650
Total:                                                                         $49.250

2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland CRD 4X4, Base MSRP:   $45,855
Side Steps:                                                               + $   995
Total:                                                                         $46,850

That's exactly $2,400 difference between the two.  Not a huge difference, is there?  Anyway, it's a moot point since "Due to certification issues", Chrysler stopped taking orders for the 3.0 turbo diesel as of 4th February 2009.  Damn EPA bastards!!!

How much is the price difference between the diesel M-class and the V8 M-class?

MaxPower

I like it; it's a good evolution of the design.  The only thing I'd do differently is try to lower the visual height of the front bumper.  The interior looks nicer than the current generation, hopefully it'll feel nicer too.

Eye of the Tiger

It doesn't even have anything close to A/T tires. What a pile of crap.

Oh, not only does the turbo diesel cost less, it produces more torque, too!  398 lb.ft. versus 391 lb.ft.

And is significantly slower. The proper comparison to make is ML350 vs. ML320 CDI and the ML350 is cheaper and is still faster.

I wouldn't buy a CDI vehicle unless it actually made sense from a cost perspective, for most people the ML350 CDI (and GC CDI) are not going to make financial sense compared to the similar performing V6 models.

Since when does saving a few bucks on a tank of fuel come into play when we're talking $50,000+ vehicles?
