Man I can't believe we let the plague of the "that is not a sports or GT car and should not be discussed in this forum" disease spread to Carspin.   Make it stop.

It doesn't matter, we'll find something else to hold forth at length upon in almost complete ignorance save for whatever random supporting evidence we can find for our views on Wikipedia.

It didn't actually.  This isn't labeled as a sports and/or GT car section specifically, and therefore no one has any problem with cars like the Evo and STI or Ms and AMGs getting posted here.  But you might raise my eyebrow if you all of a sudden call the Evo a sports car or the M5 a pickup truck.

Really, I think I would be driving a 997 C2S if I had that sort of money to spend. I don't feel like going through the whole thread, but I'm sure the question has come up: Why is the Cayman on this list instead of the 911?

Without meaning, we can't communicate.

Changing meanings randomly because you simply feel like it worked well for you in school, I see. What a simple way to get 100% on every test or assignment! "Well, I don't care what you think it means or it's always meant. This is what I say it means now because times change."

I'd take either, whether they're 'sports cars' or not.

Convertible is a sports car, hardtop is a GT. I would rather a GT3 over either

I do love the 911 Turbo cabriolets.  I wish they weren't AWD, but you can't win every battle.  I saw a 996 Turbo coupe for 50 grand two years ago, and that's worryingly reasonable.

Hmm, I wonder what a GT2 cabriolet would be like...

They made a 996 Turbo S?

Is that pretty much the same thing as the very under-advertised X50 package with the GT2 horsepower bump?
2. 1995 Saturn SL2 5-speed, 126,500 miles. 5,000 miles in two and a half months. That works out to 24,000 miles per year if I can keep up the pace.

I can't find an official definition from any reputable source that says that.  Anyway.....

I'm starting to really really dig the Corvette Z51.

I don't know. That would be my pick too probably.

996s are so cheap, I am seriously considering getting one in the next 5 years

I would love to get one.  Anyone have any idea how expensive the usual big repair is for those?  If it's more than 5-6k for a single "usual" repair or preventative maintenance, then I won't consider it.

Also, to anyone that has driven one, how does the steering feel compare to other sports cars?  IIRC the 996's steering feel took a nosedive when that model came out.

I hear there are those RMS issues.

My local used car dealer's got a 1999 Carrera with 77K miles for 19k.  They've also got an 2002 Carrera 4S (the ones that look like a wingless turbo) with 30K miles for 32k.

I believe the RMS is just for the GT3/GT3RS..at least that is how it is for the 997.

I'm on the fence about the Grand Sport.  I like that the Z51 is a bit of a sleeper as it looks no different from a base Vette.  The Z06 bodywork on the GS is a little much I think.

A regular C6 with Z06 bodywork is perfect IMO. They should make that an option on all of them, like they should make the regular Lancers available with the EVO fenders.

A 996 for 19K is almost an insult to 911s. But it's fine cause 993s still go for like 30K. I couldn't care less, I would rock with a C2 as is. By the time I'm ready they should be safely around 17-20K.

I approve of anything that puts shark gills on a Vette.

I voted for the Lotus, handling means everything to me. I rather have a C5 Z06 change the roof to be more fast back and mod the crap out of it, more fun to me to mod stuff than to buy stock.

I'm thinking it would be easier to get a coupe and just work on the engine until it matches Z06 outputs rather than trying to change the roof and trunk of the hardtop Z06.
