some of the newer phones will leave you send text messages of unlimited length... so now my girlfriend rambles on in a text and my phone gets zapped for 5 messages instead of 1 message

I have never had my current phone ask me if I want to split a message but my old yet newer phone did so all the time.

From typing here on my iPhone so often, my phone has learned that I like to say "fuck", "fucking", "cunt", and "shit"; it's to the point that it even comes up as a possible correction.

My iPhone recognizes the word "titties" now

True. I don't like leaving voicemail messages. I tend to ramble. A lot.

I usually say "call me back" with "when you get a chance" if it's not urgent, or I spout nonsense.

Ipod touchpad sucks, QWERTY's too small, and T9's annoying if you're trying to type a name.

I remember back in the days trying to send msgs with pagers in HS though.. that got old quickly too.

the Teuton

Pagers.  LOL.

How did those work exactly?

Sometimes I'll say names of actors (usually somewhat obscure) or animals, and sometimes I'll tell a story that is completely impossible and in no way true, often involving obscure actors and animals.

Oh, Pagers, you usually just send a number for people to call back, but people started getting creative with the # and create words out of them.. you know, like 4 for H, 3 for E, 1 for L, etc.

Typing?

Well, use a fucking qwerty keyboard, obviously.  What kind of idiot would stand around trying to type out words on a 1-# keypad?

:hesaid:

If you're gonna text, get one of these and be done with it. Standing there and striking the same number key several times to find the letter you want seems retarded. Almost as retarded as texting itself.. but fuck.. if I've been sucked into it after almost 10 years from being away from cell phones.. it must really have something.

Well I found it. It was buried in some menu that I'd never look in had I not used the inter webs.

It's actually so much faster now, though I can't scroll through any menus when it gets the word wrong. I have to go to "Edit Word" and then type it in non-T9. Still, it gets most of the words so I don't mind.

You didn't see my post about how to use T9. Using it, I can type on my 12 key about as fast as you can type on your chiclet QWERTY. The phone is smaller and there aren't any slider mechanisms to break, either.

I just used my brother's phone and tried T9. It's so much nicer than my POS go phone. The list of words pops up automatically after every word, instead of with my phone where I have to go manually type out everything. Plus my phone doesn't learn words, which his does.

I feel like a total idiot for breaking my phone now. :pee:

Pretty much all phones have T9 or something similar. Mines isn't called T9 on my phone, it's simply called "word". FIGURE IT OUT. I'M 90% sure your phone has it.

No, it has T9, but it doesn't have the feature where it lists out different word possibilities after you type in a word and it doesn't learn new words.

Click Zero or star. It'll learn new words the more you text. I thought that my phone wouldn't do it, but you have to do it a few times.
