How Fast can your car go?

Mine as per the specs can reach 248 kph (154 MPH), however I have never driven (yet) faster then 185 kph (115 MPH)

I hit ~110 in the Aveo, but I think my actual speed was closer to ~100. It had a little room left, but not much.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

I left off in the RX-8 at 130 cause my friends car shut off at 120mph and I felt like mocking him.... the 8 is drag limited somewhere around 145-150mph

Drag limited.....LMAO

Don't kid yourself roto, that weezy rotary would either run out of torque or run out of oil by 140.

torques?  i got no stinking torques

225 km/h = 140 mph , at least that's what my speedo says.
My dad's A6 downhill topspeed was 245 km/h. That's 152 mph. On a straight road it's 230km/h. My Golf however is as fast on a straight as downhill. That's also what the speedo said. Official topspeed is 217 km/h.

The E-class is probably limited to 155.........if it can reach it.

Doubt it, it's probably limited lower than that for the tires.

Prelude was still pulling at 125.

I have reached the top speed of my previous car of 122 MPH. The car was a 2002 VW Passat, 2.0L 8V, 115 HP, 4Sp A/T

For the record, it happened in a very long, empty, straight, flat stratch of 4 lanes highway, with a speed limit of 100 MPH (160 kph)

Most MBs are limited at 155mph because of the tires.

The fastest I've been in the Accord was 115-120 (my speedo isn't entirely accurate - it was indicating 120). The only report of a top speed on my gen with a 4 cyl Accord was in an automatic sedan, which was about, 124, IIRC.

I think the Spirit could touch 180-190 km/h if the road was flat. They highest I've ever had it up to is around 150 km/h (in the neighbourhood of 90 mph).

Vinsanity

On the way to Vegas, I switched the speedometer setting to indicate km/h so that the needle would jump to 140, and I fooled my passengers into thinking I was doing 140 mph. Does that count? :tounge:

Otherwise, I've barely topped 100. I think the car might be able to touch 140.

The stock tires were H rated, I believe, so I'm guessing there was a soft limiter around 130, but the digital speedometer reading out 132 would lead me to believe otherwise.

Most MB's aren't rated to 155 mph. It's usually only the AMG models that are actually limited to 155 IIRC.

"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high." - Ayrton Senna

No, AMG models and other higher performance MBs are limited to 155 due to a gentlemen's agreement among German automakers (eg: the 276 HP limit in Japan).

nickdrinkwater

Most I've got out of the Ibiza is 115mph (downhill).

Not bad for 60 bhp tho!

And the tires are likely Z-rated = 155MPH.

186, supposedly.

I haven't had it past 115-120ish.

  What?  That's about the trap speed of your car at the end of the 1/4 mile.  Yeah we have to be safe and responsible but you gotta open up the taps on your C6 at least once.

Z-rated simply implies 149+ mph, I believe.  It's broken down further by other letters - W is 168 mph, Y is 186 mph, etc.

And my car has W-rated tires - 168 mph.  :praise:  If only it would go that fast...

Why do you have W-rated tires? What's the point? Do you have an aftermarket setup, or is that factory?

280Z Turbo

Probably 130-140 in the Z. Drag limited of course.

My car came with V-rated tires, which are rated to 149 mph, and is governed to 112 mph.

Better grip at low speeds I would imagine.

Corolla: almost 105mph
T-Bird: 130mph

Gixxer: this is touchy I saw an indicated 165mph. But I've read the sportbike speedos are known to read kinda high on the top end.

Higher speed rated tires also tend to be built somewhat better and/or have a higher load rating than lower speed rated tires, but then again that may be bullcrap.

I've never been faster than 100 indicated in my car, but it will apparently do around 150ish (limited maybe?).  Someday if I have a chance to do it safely on new tires I'll let you know.

Kumho Ecsta ASX.

It just happens to be the best option (best mix of price and performance, with a tiny bit of snow capability) that's available in my car's OEM size (195/50/16).

They don't last terribly long, but they have fantastic dry grip.
