The only new Ferraris I actually dislike are the California and the Scag. The California might grow on me, but I still find the Scag to be, well, not really ugly, but just extremely bland.

I like the 599 and I love the 430. I'd love to own a 430 Scuderia someday.

Hahahah! A coincidence. I literally haven't looked at this site in just over a week. I've been gone on vacation for a week, getting ready for surgery on Wednesday. Visited Fallingwater in southwestern PA. Come back, 'cause it's my birthday today, check in to see if anything's new, and realize that it's not my meds, but reading moronic tripe from people that have no clue that's my real problem. It just boggles the mind the sort of stupidity that flows from some people's fingers...

You visited Fallingwater?! Oh my. May I suggest a photo thread?

Everything about that car is wrong, IMO. It's got lines all over the place, and IMO it has the proportions of a muscle car.

Can you see?  You know, with eyes? :mask:

Ferrari has been forced to recall its 458 Italia and 458 Spider models sold in the US market.

The Italian exotics run afoul of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard guidelines, as the secondary latch inside the front trunk compartment may not release when the vehicle is stationary.

"In the event an individual is trapped in the trunk and the latch system does not release the trunk lid, it increases the risk of personal injury or possibly death," the recall notice notes.

The interior latch release does allow the lid to open slightly, eliminating any chance of suffocation while preventing the panel from opening in front of the driver's view while underway, but it does not allow a trapped individual to completely exit the compartment once the vehicle is stopped.

The recall affects 3,082 units from the 2010 through 2014 model years.

Can a real person even fit in the trunk?

So the safety of imaginary people; leprechauns, gnomes and Lilliputians; that doesn't concern you at all?
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I'm not sure, it's been some time that I worked on a new one. But I think even the Miata have one of those latches in the new ones.

It looks like maybe a small child could fit in there.

Although i would really like to see the statistics on he number of people who have suffocated due to being shut in the trunk of a Ferrari.

They probably thought we didn't have enough political threads and left for greener pastures where they could spend all day really learning about idiot governments, self-reliance, and the power of self effort to get ahead in life.

The Italia is tops but design wise I really like the previous 2 generations a bit more. I'd be thrilled with a 12 year old 360. Someday.

Road & Track had a Supercar edition a couple months back and it's shocking how much the upkeep is on these cars.  A McLaren F1 must be shipped to England for all of the servicing every year.  Ralph Lauren sends all three of his McLarens every year.  The Ferrari Enzo's oil change is $8000, as well as a brake job.  The clutch is $30,000.  If I had the money to buy a supercar, I'm buying a Ford GT.  A GT's oil change is $500.

An Audi R8 is probably reasonable too. Or a 911 GT3 RS.

I feel like 90% of it is bullshit. I'll bet an Enzo would run just fine on Mobil 1 from Walmart.

Exotics tend to be crazily over maintained. If you don't do that resale will suffer. So if a supercar owner ever plans to sell it makes economic sense to so this kind of anal maintenance and keep the records.

The article quoted an owner and said that if you are missing any maintenance records at all, the resale price suffers in a big way.

Everyone is so negative, sure the latch may not work.

I challenge anyone to find a BETTER place to be trapped and suffocate to death.

Probably, rule 1 for buying an italian exotic. If the owner doesn't have all the records then walk, and alot of people will.

I would rather suffocate drowning in pussy than in the trunk of a 458.

Bah humbug on trying to rationalize a supercar purchase. "My buddy's Talon TSi AWD does the quarter in 9s on street tires.... id rather just get that and save a million dollars"

No no no

U want a supercar u suffer the maintenance. U go balls deep and pay the child support or u stay the hell away and enjoy thru mags and internet.

Damn right they have to recall the Ferrari's for the trunk latch.  A rule is a rule.  Even if it's an exotic which few people own and the trunk is super small.  Otherwise you're opening up the flood gates for automakers to avoid recalls for not following government mandated regulations for all sorts of reasons.

If a child while playing hide and seek traps themselves in a trunk without a latch on a hot day, they're dead.

They were stupid in the first place for not knowing the regulations.

12,000 RPM

I don't think a kid would know how to get out of a trunk with a latch. Or open a trunk to hide in it in the first place.

Kid deserves to die for touching the Ferrari with his grubby hands anyway.
