You've gotten in more trouble than just traffic tickets Eddie.  Trouble in school, tearing up fields, failing classes, etc.  It's a pretty impressive record...

Psh my highschool record was squeaky clean. Nothing written on paper

Grass always grows back.

All in all, my life's been lots of fun so far

Causing trouble and flouting rules is always fun.  Always has been.  I wish I could still do more of it.
A good friend will come bail you out of jail...BUT, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, DAMN...that was fun!

You gotta learn how to do things without getting caught.  ;)

Very nice car, James.   :ohyeah:         I hired a Corsa on one of my trips to the UK and liked it very much.

Too bad GM gives us mostly crap over here.

Welcome aboard!

And James, please don't talk about how you like subarus (if you do) around Teuton. He might hump your leg.

Unless you're into that kinda thing.

Mondeos are common, the higher spec ones aren't so much!

I do know a friend who did own a St200 but I'm not too sure if he still has it tho.

With those two things in mind and the fact that I've read numerous stories of common sports cars (like 350Z's amd Z28s) getting away from cops on the highway doing only like 150 mph, I'd take my chances.

Eddie's not in enough trouble already.  He's still thinking about outrunning cops.

Eddie, why didn't you outrun the cop who clipped you recently with your 140 km/hr ticket, or whatever it was?  :evildude:

Pretty sure my rationalization for running when I'm already going 220mph makes hella more sense than trying to run when my car can only do a little over 140 mph.

And I don't know about you guys but unless it's a highway, cops around here will step out into the middle of the road (even on like 6 lane city streets) and stop you. I was only on a 2 lane road so I really had nowhere to go with the cop standing in the lane and traffic in the other.

The cops step into the road to pull you over in Connecticut sometimes too.

My comment wasn't serious anyway, man.  I was just giving you crap, man.  You're such a good target...:evildude:

LOOPY.

They do that when they're operating a tag team speed operation.  I was with a buddy of mine when he got busted in one of those.  They clocked him at a speed well above the speed limit, and there was a cop standing on the shoulder (not actually in the traffic lane) who signaled to him to pull over.  He radioed ahead to another car to pull up behind him and do the honors of writing the ticket.  It's a pretty common tactic here.

Yeah I saw it on the Merit parkway. Cops waving at people to pull over. REALLY Loopy.

Yeah I saw a cop doing that in Baltimore once.  What is worse is that if you don't pay attention and keep going, they don't bother to get you, they just keep waving the next guy down.  We watched other cars go by oblivious to the waves (not maybe not so oblivious) as we waited for our ticket.   :banghead:

Also the Merrit parkway is great, you literally are required to pull a full bore 0-60 run just to merge during heavy traffic.

Welcome, James.

Whereabouts in the UK do you live?

I think your arrival means there are now 3 of us on here trying to defend the ways of the Empire!

I do post various reports (or links to them) of the numerous European events that I get to attend........ many of which seem to be of limited interest to the Americans, but seem to be appreciated by the Europeans here. Do look out for them.

Oh, and in case you've not found it out elsewhere, my car is an 08 plated Audi S6, which can be seen wearing a groove in the M4 or parked up at Heathrow airport!

That's the reason I don't post classic car shows here or on GCZ anymore. It's a lot of work preparing the pictures, uploading them and then nobody views your topic.

Nobody here gives a damn about automotive history or heritage. It's all about V8's and 0-60, the 1/4 mile and fuck 4-cylinders etc.

Well, there is an alternative place, where at least some of the viewers are interested........

Yesterday I was with some fellow forummers from "The Motor" at the VSCC (Veteran Sports Car Club)'s 75th anniversary celeberations at Prescott Hill Climb. As well as watching 300 different cars go up the famous hill, there was literally a whole field of pre-1940 cars. Totally impossible to take pics of all of them. I did photo a representative sample, and will be generating my report presently!

I've always wondered why we don't have a section here devoted to vintage and classic cars.  That's something I'd like to see.

No, we do.

We just don't appreciate it when it's an automaker's only excuse for making products which aren't markedly better than the competition. AKA, in many of our eyes, history and heritage means jack shit in an E-Class.
