Autobahn

My two cars:

Mercedes E 350 CDI Wagon - for skiing, biking and all the other times where you need to haul a lot of crap
Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet - for the sunny days

The H1 is a very capable vehicle. It has some unique advantages that make it nearly unstoppable off road.

Not true at all.

It's width makes it very stoppable.

H1 is the shit. Let's see your G500 do this:

Let's see your H1 do this:

The H1 is more or less a one trick pony. It's great out in the desert, but it's too wide for much else, including driving on a daily basis.

Two cars....

1.  Audi S4 Avant.  Tows enough for a couple small sailing dinghies, room for the skis, etc.  Need to tow the bigger boats...fuckit I'm renting a U-haul.

2.  Some classic convertible.  Which one depends on the day you ask me

+1

Jeeps are much better in most situations. The H1's trick 4WD system helps it get out of lots of situations, but its weight and width made it get into the situation in the first place (like sinking into mud that a Jeep may have just been able to go over easily).

You're in an H1. Just run over the trees.

How is that totally uninformed and false?

You said I've never been to a Costco. I've been to a Costco.

3.0L V6

1. The daily driver - 2007 Mazda 6 w/3.0L V6 and automatic transmission. I've loved the looks of this car since they put it into production, but am not as smitten with the newer generation's (2008+) styling. It handles well, has decent highway passing power, can haul four people, the automatic is nice for the daily slog through traffic (and when you need someone else to drive your drunk self home) and can be left in a parking spot without fear of someone breaking in or stealing it.

2. 2009 Chevrolet Corvette convertible - with a 6 speed manual transmission. Power. 430 thundering horses. Check. A transmission that has a 3rd pedal and in which you change gears yourself. Check. Convertible top for springtime/summertime top-down motoring. Check. Excellent ride/handling tradeoff. Check. Sure, I know it's kind of a cliched choice and everybody has one, but I like this car.

You're looking at it the wrong way.  If you have a manual, no one will ever want to take your car to the bar if you're not the designated driver.

If it makes you feel any better, stickshift Vette convertibles are actually pretty rare; trust me, I looked. But sporty is right; these are cars that you buy if you get a job promotion, not if you win the lottery.
