I really love Ford's new sedan design theme.

I think pickup trucks are too big.  And too trucky.  I've been driving for seven years, and I've never used a pickup truckbed, so they should get rid of those.  They're too high; they should be lowered.  They look ugly, so they should be more sleek.  They also should seat more people.  Four doors, but it should also be a 2+2 coupe that's a boat and a plane.

You guys are fucking morons.

THEY MAKE DIFFERENT CLASSES OF CARS FOR THIS EXACT FUCKING REASON.  If midsizers are too big for you BUY A FUCKING COMPACT, dickwads.  If you're saying that your Accord is big enough and it's not even the size of a Civic, which is a compact WHY DO YOU CARE THAT THE MIDSIZER IS LARGER?  Competition and market demanded that midsize cars get larger; and guess what?  They did.  They also became better packaged, safer, faster, et al.  If you think that the midsize car is too big for you, guess what else?  You're not the fucking market.  So start looking at fucking compacts.

That sounds like an awesome car! But you know what would be a better idea? A BMW 5-series SUV. But also sleeker so it doesn't look like a soccer mom car. And noone likes to sit in the middle of the back seat, so let's get rid of that. That would be awesome.

"Mazda could have reengineered the 6 to have more interior room in critical areas without having the car grow that much."

Do you know how they accomplish that? By sacrificing sleek styling. Then people complain it doesn't look sporty.

i'd argue that at 194in long its more fullsize then midsize

...actually comparing it to the taurus's interior, it is fullsized

Including the trunk?  I suspect one of the big differences is the trunk size.  Americans like big trunks (because we hate station wagons).

You do know how a car is classed, right?  Interior volume plus cargo volume.  Not length.

Only by the EPA. Physical size does matter, unless you'd but the Nissan Versa in the same size class as the Chevrolet Impala.

The blue is better, but it needs some brighter wheels and less 4x4 action...

For it's segment, it's pretty decent looking. Yeah, I prefer the Euro one, but it's a moot point I guess.

Versa sedan doesn't have as much space as an Impala.  The hatch might, but the EPA rates hatches/wagons by a different yardstick than sedans (a midsize hatch has much more interior volume than a midsize sedan per the EPA).

I was thinking the Impala was listed as a midsize car -- it's not, it's the only W-body that hasn't been. But the Versa is listed as midsize even in the sedan version, as is the Hyundai Elantra sedan. There are plenty of examples that can be used for why classifying cars by EPA-measured interior volume doesn't quite work.

the north american 6 has bigger front seat and rear seat dimensions then the "fullsized" taurus... mazda does not have a true mid-sized car in north america anymore

But then you suggest that the world car is bigger still?

Besides, the 6 has a roomier interior than the Taurus only because the Taurus is inefficiently designed, not because it is so massive.

i said bigger in reference to the last generation.... the world car is a similar outside dimension to the old, bigger inside then the old, and several hundred pounds heavier

I believe hatches and wagons are classed under a different set of volume standards, so you're being ridiculous.  And someone else made this ridiculous argument the last time EPA size classes came under discussion.

The Nissan Versa sedan is also classified as a midsize car.

Really?  Do you have the interior and cargo volumes?

I'm just going by the EPA's website, fueleconomy.gov, which lists all versions of the Versa as midsize, including the sedan-only 1.6-liter model.

Hyundai is also well-known for having most of its cars rated one EPA size class ahead of their market classes. The Elantra and Sonata sedans are rated as midsize and large, respectively.

Well, if you want, I can check the interior and cargo volumes when I get home, and we'll see if the website just has the Versa sedan incorrectly classified.
