Yep I agree... it's not really much of a nuisance to drive stick even in a super urban area like Crown Heights... but to get my GF to learn how to drive it here will take some intense training. After having driven the G35x with its competent auto box I am a believer in a well sorted out auto over stickshift- in the right setting of course.

Bah.  I drive, on occasion, one of the best auto boxes made today, and I'll still take my stick; in any condition.

The only time I can honestly say I'd take auto over stick is when I spend all day crawling over blubberry fields. Even in low range, it is a lot of clutch slipping. Poor Rodeo.

Plus with 6sp+ more often than not the A/T version is as quick or quicker than the M/T version (G37 being a perfect example), so the acceleration difference in the days of old are essentially gone.

You think it's that good? From what I have heard it isn't all that great. Too many gears. Besides, it definitely isn't performance oriented. Something like the 7AT in the SL63 AMG would be a far better reference for what an AT can do.

It's extremely smooth, but yes, it does have too many gears.
