QuoteIf you ever need to swap the engine stuff a 572, mid compresion engine, about 600hp, 700ftp(I think), on 83. Nice, my dads truck was rootbeer when made, now its red-orange with a deep purple side strips, looks black though with sparkels. Looks good, just like the other one you had right?
Yea pretty much...were pretty happy with it..its exactly what we wanted.

QuoteNice.? You're not a fan of parking brakes every time you park, eh?? Me neither.
 You dont need it in a automatic...(unless on a steep hill)
Never said you do need it.  I see most people giving it a yank (or kick) anyway.
I never use it in our truck or an automatic...I ALWAYS pull the e-brake in my dads car..that way its not putting unnesscary strain on the drivetrain...Dont know if it really does anything..but i feel better yanking the e-brake...only takes a second
Leaving an auto in park without the e-brake puts more strain on the tranny than leaving a standard in gear without the brake.
 That sounds like bs..explain your reasoning...automatics apply brake when in park

No they don't. The only thing that keeps the truck from moving is a single cog in the transmission, while in manual transmission cars many more cogs are keeping the car in place.

O...Pulling/pushing the brake in an auto is just a pain...

Explain to me why they only have one cog

That is just how it works, putting it in park moves a single cog against the output shaft to keep the tranny from turning and, by relation, the wheels. And, pressing down the e-brake isn't difficult at all, you just have to work it into your routine.

You can work it into your manual transmission routine just fine and a hand brake takes more effort and time to engage.

QuoteThe only thing that keeps the truck from moving is a single cog in the transmission, while in manual transmission cars many more cogs are keeping the car in place.
I'd rather have that single cog as it is locked solid in there.

What good is many cogs if the engine can still turn over?

I always put my car in gear when parking without using the ebrake, and on steep inclines the car will still roll down the hill, turning over the engine as it rolls.

I had a chance to try that in my neighbor's identical truck, and honestly it was slow.  However I only floored it up to 60 and I'd imagine it picks up after that B)
