I wonder how many Carspinners would actually "man up" and order a manual if they purchased one of these pony cars?
I think the vast majority of us would.

MrH

I'd never order one of these pony cars to begin with.

Any car I'd drive would have one. Other than a truck.

I'd certainly order a Camaro or a track-pack Mustang GT. I'd pass on the Challenger.

I've never like the Mustang. But I took a blue 2010 GT for a spin the other day at work and liked it. I think it looked good too. Who knew I could ever change?

The entire segment just doesn't appeal to me.

I don't find the cars particularly attractive, and I think there are much sharper cars (in terms of handling, steering feel, brakes, etc.) out there.  That's what's important to me.  A miata or RX-8 or 3-series are all much more appealing.  Rough, crude, but fast, impractical cars aren't my thing.

I dunno, I keep hearing that these "Muscle Cars" aren't so crude anymore.

I wouldn't call the new Mustang sophisticated. But it's not the crude pos it once was.

I would.
If I could have one of each I would be a happy man.  The Stang for blasting down a two lane highway and DD, the Camaro for the strip, and the Challenger for road trips.

the Teuton

I would love a Mustang, and a Challenger, at least in SRT form, would be an absolute peach.

I would gladly own either of those cars.

I don't care about all that shit.  I'll be going to college to get an education at a cost to my parents.  I'm not going to fool around.

She'll hate diesel passenger cars, all things Ford, and fiat currency.  They will masturbate to old interviews of Ayn Rand an youtube together.

I hope I can test drive all 3 when I get back.  I'm not sure they will let me, though

Why not? Has driving a Kei car turned your manhood inside out?

When I was in Alabama/NY none of the dealers were interested in letting me try one out.

I'm not going to buy something I can't test drive

I really like the Challenger. As an only car I'd take a Mustang first, but I think a Challenger R/T would make an excellent garage companion to an Elise.

I'd be one!  I wouldn't buy a current Challenger (or a 'Seventies model, either, which had better engines), but anything we buy has manuals, if available (the Windstar doesn't, neither did the previous Windstar, nor the Grand Caravan before that--but the Dodge B-150 Prospector full-sized van before the minivans had a four-in-the-floor that was a kick to drive!  The SonDude has a 6-speed manual Altima, but the DaughterDude has gone automatic on us--her first car was our five-speed manual Sentra SE that she drove for many years.  The WifeDude's Focus ZX5 is a 5-speed manual, as were her two Focus four-door sedans before that.

Steering this posting back in the general direction of the topic, the Challenger looks best in whatever they call their metallic blue.  Plum Crazy will likely be the color most prized by collectors down the road, however, since it will likely be a color unique to Challengers.  Let's hope so, anyway.

MrH:  Well, you certainly have mentioned positively excellent alternatives to the Mustang !  OTOH, the Mustang is a positively excellent alternative to the Miata :ohyeah:, the RX-8 :ohyeah:, and the 3-series :ohyeah:.  Between these four vehicles ninety-five percent of the world's drivers could find contentment, satisfaction, and pleasure --and a helluva starting point for a racecar project if they want much, much more !  And why not? ;)
